Re: Quick EQing question

Nice. Ya if I can avoid foam at first all the better. I'm trying to go as budget as possible at this point, but still have great results. :)

Re: Quick EQing question

Hey thanks again guys for all the awesome responses. I have tons of reading and research to do. First step is to get the monitors I'm looking at, pick up some acustic foam cheap off the craigslist, and potentiolally build some nice diy bass traps and then branch off from there as far as sound room t...

Re: Quick EQing question

Sound treatment, or acoustics, is a science. It's precise, there are measurements. Opinions are to be ignored if they're not backed up by evidence. Quick and dirty room treatment: 1. pick a room in the house that is not a cube. 2. Stack two rolls of rockwool or fibregass insulation in each corner. ...

Re: Quick EQing question

Wow! Amazing replies I must say. I'm sort of overwhelmed! lol. A lot of great info to comb through and apply. Regarding the gain--I dunno where I heard/read about the gain being on low setting then being turned up to find a "sweet spot", but recently I've read several sources that indicate its bette...

Quick EQing question

Hello everyone. I have some basic simple questions regarding basic EQ 'protocol'. I've researched tons on the topic, yet have come up with various answers sort of all over the board, and not really a nice clear-cut answer. So basically as I'm about to purchase some studio monitors I've been wonderin...

Re: Simple recording audio with video capture question(s)

Don't have editing software anymore-except for imovie. I'm going to give it a go initially in just feeding a line input into the iphone from the mixer with recording levels very low. I'll see how this works out, if it doesn't then I'll have to sync audio/video together with imovie or some other free...

Re: Simple recording audio with video capture question(s)

What are you talking about 'in youtube'? Sync it in whatever editing program you use and then upload the finished file to youtube. ya thats what I was thinking I was just a lil confused. :) So in theory I should be able to take sound output from my mixer and feed it to the mic input on the c...

Re: Simple recording audio with video capture question(s)

So is it possible to feed the audio/mics into my mixer--then the mixer output to the camcorder? Or should I record audio separately--eq that, then I'll have an audio file on the comp, then record the video w/o volume--then sync the two files on youtube? I guess I'm confused what you guys mean by syn...

Re: Simple recording audio with video capture question(s)

Currently I'm only using reason--which supports recording, yet not integration with captured video. I do own a camcorder though-I totally just remembered! :P Its a decent HD camcorder only a few years old (Sanyo Xacti VPC-FH1A HD) . Its built in microphone is ok, as you can see from the picture its ...

Re: Studio monitor recommendations??

Hey thanks for all the awesome replies guys. I actually spent quite some time listing to a bunch of monitors recently--different brands, various types of music, and woofer sizes. Unfortunately at this time in my life I just don't have the financial means for the Adam A7xs, and I need monitors desper...

Simple recording audio with video capture question(s)

Hello fellow gear heads and musicians. I have a simple question(s) regarding recording. So I do a lot of hand drumming, and I'm familiar with how to properly setup mics etc. etc. However I need to make a youtube video demonstrating me drumming/instructional video. How can I go about recording video ...

Re: Studio monitor recommendations??

Wanted to do a quick bump on this thread and thank the people that have provided excellent information so far. :) Do you guys have a good suggestion for sites to purchase monitors off of? Craigslist, eBay, other? Obviously I would want to aim for as least expensive as possible. Main thing is that th...

Re: Studio monitor recommendations??

Thanks for replies so far everyone. Greatly appreciated! Studio monitors seems to essentially be one of the most important things for studio development. One thing I know the active studio monitors will help me with is taking the amp out of the picture, as trying to get sound levels correct on: soft...

Studio monitor recommendations??

I know theres tons of information regarding this topic, but I was hoping someone could just give me say their personal favorite top five studio monitors in the $100-$200 range (for the set). Currently I'm using some inexpensive sony "monitors" https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/shopping?q=tbn:ANd9Gc...
