Re: Should I stay or should I go?! :-)
The studio currently contains: KEYBOARDS Akai Miniak - Awesome small with full sized keys and very versitile VA synth engine with a vocorder and pattern sequencer (an Alesis Micron knockoff) Akai AX60 - Truly something I've always wanted - true analog with lots of dirty grit! E-MU E-Synth - The tru...

Boutique SH01a ...Pretty nice.
Got a little while ago the SH01a with the K25m keyboard (for me the convenience here overrides the added keyboard price...). Never owned a SH101, but all I can say is the SH01a sounds really really good. The Boutique format also works great here: the controls/sliders are easy to manipulate...

Re: Korg Monologue
I sense a sonic affiliation between the Monologue and the Monotribe (the filter ?) ... But for those who are disappointed, look at it this way: 2011, Monotribe, about $300 https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71O3r2sbw0L._SY355_.jpg 2016, Monotribe "upgrade": Monologue $300 https://www.r...

Re: Behringer Deep Mind 12
The DM12 isn't even as nice sounding as the Junos it's based on, in fact I think it sounds completely 'meh' from all I've heard. It looks like c**p too, it is comically shallow (front to back depth) and looks like my grandad designed it in his shed... and it's a behringer. Is everything just about ...

Re: The Access Virus: digital distinction ?
I find it quite strange that such a massive name/company has died in that way. I wouldn't myself call Access Music "massive". Here is a Midi Association page about Access Music. It mentions 20 employees. So I really don't think we are talking about a huge company ... https://www.midi.org/our-partne...

Re: The Access Virus: digital distinction ?
... Access already has that market completely sewn up. I'm sure if they stopped making them then somebody would see an opening in the market, but as things stand there's no point. On top of that, what exactly has the virus got that's so different? It's just a multitimbral VA that sounds a bit dark ...

Re: The Access Virus: digital distinction ?
Looking at all the analog redux products endlessly coming out (Moog, Korg, Arturia, DSI, small boutiques,...), I am thinking that the Access Virus, well respected but these days quite outside of the limelights, has never been "re-done" or up-staged by others. Actually it's been redone endlessly by ...

Aphex Twin going full digital in his latest release
It's called "Cheetah", using mostly digital sound generation and processing (and it will be released also on cassette ....). http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/06/aphex-twin-announces-cheetah-ep-due-out-july-8th/ http://www.factmag.com/2016/06/07/aphex-twin-cheetah-ep-ad/ And since this is the VSE f...
