Re: 80s Synth Medley (3 guys, 6 synths!)

Nice, but instead of the truncated "Aah" sample being manipulated by the pitch wheel during "Rockit," you should have had an actual turntablist scratching the "Fresh" sample (on vinyl!) originally used in the song. That would have made the video so much better. And yes, I do know a few things about ...

Re: Mono-only setups

I have nearly a mono-only setup. Once I started multitracking the Minimoog, my polyphonic synths started vanishing. Multitracked vintage analog mono just sounds so incredibly good, I couldn't bear how plain latter-day polyphonics sounded. I now multitrack monos almost exclusively. The CS-50 is stil...

Re: Live 7 vs Pro Tools. I need help.

I don't like the fact that you have to use Digidesign's own audio interfaces for Pro Tools (the ones that "cheaper" can me like afford are the Digi Rack 00X systems, and they are nowhere near as good as the high-end systems like the HD, in my opinion). However, I do enjoy Pro Tools' sequencer, DAW l...

Nice! Can't listen to the samples now, but I will later. From your user name, you should call it Adam's Tan. :D

Oh no, those are not the only ones. I really like the strings as well. Kind of thin in my opinion, but sinister. I like that. The crazy FX sounds would be a bonus.

If you go there and listen to the demos, they make the Opus sound downright creepy, which I love. Can it really do all those crazy FX sounds?

Re: What kind of synths can make these sounds?

Sorry to say, but I believe you already answered your own question. Its either going to be= an expensive as h**l Moog Modular setup, modern modular setup(.com, Doepfer, etc...) or a software emulator such as the Arturia Moog or Arp soft synths. You really can't go wrong with any of the choices. It ...

What kind of synths can make these sounds?

Hey guys. I want to know what kind of synths can make these sounds: http://home.comcast.net/~shintchung/dar_modular.mp3 As far as I know, it's a Moog Modular (modules 921, 904A, 911, 902 to be specific) with some of the sounds going into a DACS FrEQue 1 Ring Modulator. However, I want to get close w...

Re: What is an Oberheim OB-X (4-8 voice) worth these days?

I found mine for 600 bucks, here in Switzerland... A friend of mine bought an Oberheim OB-Xa in perfect shape for 1600$. With 120 memories, and the great Oberheim Sound. In therm of price, i would put the OB-X around the same price tag like the OB-Xa. The sound is more warm, organic and vintage on ...

What is an Oberheim OB-X (4-8 voice) worth these days?

Hey guys. I'm thinking about buying an OB-X, but I have no idea what prices of them go for. I only know of the one that Heath sold (missed it by a night, nuts!), and that was a good price, but I bet they go for more considering the all the ones I saw a few months ago were in need of repair and still...

Re: Some keyboards have MIDI out, some don't.

As Yoozer said, I would get an E-mu XBoard series keyboard, or the Novation ReMOTE series keyboards (the SL ones are more expensive though, just get a regular).
