Re: roland s330 sampler - the sound of it... gritty/lo-fi?
The S-330 has a nice lo-fi sound, yes. But not that gritty, there's no harsh highs. Roland did the playback engine well and it has a 16Bit converter that makes its sound smoother than other 12 Bit samplers. It also has an analog filter with resonance! You will need mouse and monitor, otherwise you'...

Re: How to create Korg M1 House piano sound on Kurzweil K200
I remember making an M1 type piano by taking the piano keymap and running it through the "high frequency stimulator" DSP block.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. The past week has been a "barely time for synths" week. No problem, I took my time too... Great track (and great soundcloud collection!) with the HT-700, really 80s-evocative tones there. Thanx! The HTs are so inspiring... I´ve got 50+ synths/samplers, but the HT-...

Re: What are your thoughts on the Casio HT-6000? (Just got o
I've found some very good info (and lots of misinfo, hah) online about the 6000 and SD, but I wish there was more. I'm halfway tempted just to start a blog documenting the journey, except no one reads those anymore. I'd rather spend time making sound than writing about it. I also thought about maki...

Re: Does the Gaia actually generate it's own waves?
Make a simple test...
Take one sawtooth wave, transpose it down to 20/10hz... if, as you go down, the
waveform gets darker and looses harmonics, then it´s a sample, if it retains its
harmonics then that oscillator is generating that wave.

Re: My Emulator favourites! (with download)
Thanks for the sounds! What drum set did you use on that wonderful demo? Thanks gcoudert, and sorry for not answering before now. Actually, I took single samples from a lot of different banks, which I unfortunately can't remember right now. It's been a while... ;) But I will check again as soon as ...

Re: What are your thoughts on the Casio HT-6000? (Just got o
I´ve got two HT6000, an HT-3000, an HT-700 and a RA100 card. To me they´re really special sounding synthesizers. I´ve got a big list of synths, but these are fantastic. The more simple 3000 and 700 are more complex than a Juno 60, with two envelopes, more waveforms, more lfo waveforms, etc. There´s ...

Re: Casio CZ-1
CZs are good at percussive sounds. Modulate pitch with an envelope with only a simple attack-decay envelope, with the fastest possible attack and decay times. The attack level should be at maximum.

Re: EII vs EII...
Cool, uploading the files now. So probably the sounds on the Emax will have more presonality than on the Ell More is not neccessarily better. I´ll do this test, then I´ll do my own test, with a more scientific approach. You seem to be implying criticism again? A blind AB (like this thread's poll) i...

Re: EII vs EII...
According to the library list for the Emax on emulatorarchive, a lot of the EII library was sampled from the analogue outs of the EII! At least, that's what the wording on the official Emu document implies. Further evidence of this crazy situation is an interview with Alan Wilder in SOS mag where h...

Re: EII vs EII...
Well Juno6, the test is what it is. If someone with an EII wants me to send them the MIDI file and then record their EII, great. I would love to hear that. If you want to do a similar test, I can send you the Marcato strings as WAV and the MIDI file. We'd have to be redo the survey so that it's a b...

Re: EII vs EII...
It seems like you didn´t read my post. The comparison should be made between 1) the sample imported to the PC/Mac (as data, not sampled), converted to .wav/.aif, then loaded into Kontakt and played/sequenced. And 2) the sample on the Emulator ll triggered by MIDI (the whole musical frase, not one n...

OMG HE SAMPLED IT!!!!!!! You would prefer, maybe, that he record it onto analog tape and send us each a tape? Stupid. Purely an example of not getting the point. How else were you supposed to hear it? It seems like you didn´t read my post. The comparison should be made between 1) the sample importe...
