New Logic Pro8 - any thoughts...

Thinking about upgrading to this new version and curious if anyone has yet. What do you think of it? I have read the review in Keyboard and they love it, especially for how cheap it is compared to other daws.

I have a pair of Alesis Mkiis that I really like - wonderful sound and under 400 dollars a pair, maybe cheaper now.

I have a pair of mackie line mixers from who knows when that I run all my keys into and then into my motu 828 mkii for recording.

MIDI is handled by a pair of emagic unitors running into logic 7, soon to be pro8. Works like a charm with like 55ms lag, beautiful.

Does anyone know how to go about replacing the knob and the screens. 2 of my screens are all fudged up and just show FULL bars. Wow- I can't think of a part that might be harder to find than a screen from an 80 - It seesm to me that it would be hard for on of those to burn out, maybe it is a proble...

That guy has a ton of videos. His Arp Oddy one kicks a*s too. Where he got all those synths - sigh.

Thats a tough call. Does it do what you need it to do or is it not what you thought it was going to be? It is new gear so you can take it back and always buy on again later on if you decide you need it. I don't ever see these units as becoming rare and hard to find, so maybe the money would be bette...

Nice - glad you were able to fix the problem.

That always seems to be the case, something so simple that we overlook it for hours. And it is usually a MIDI setting too!!!!

Let us know how you like it, always wanted one, and be sure to let us here your basslines.

An AX-73 is way different than an 80. -six voice VCO versus 16 DCO on the 80 - so take that how you want - - odd six octave keyboard - does have the sample input that the AX-60 had that allows you to input Akai format samples for more processing, which I think the 80 lacks but meh on that. - the 80 ...

Yes that is a good price - a single sem module will often go for a grand or so.

And even without the sequencer these are still pretty cool, basically two free voices that you can combine with most any other cv synth for thick sounds.

Or resell here or on eBay and double your money.

I always loved the basic simplicity of Depeche Mode's "Puppets" off the album Speak and Spell

Moog Source, a Yamaha CS of some sort - 5, 10, or 15 - not sure which, and a electric piano/organ probably a Roland.

Great post!!!

I started with the original Reason and Rebirth when my brother, who is into DJ spinning and the like, visited with his laptop.

Within two months I had my Arp Axxe, Eps, and ESQ 1, and my pocketbook has been in ruins ever since!!!

I have not tried this but I know people have set them up for use as a sort of super-theremin similar to what you have described. I wonder if it would be viable as a real-time performance controller for stage use? I know nothing about the range of the wii motes and if they are susceptible to interfer...
