i think you're 'supposed' to attenuate the signal going into the stomp box though, or maybe DI the output before it goes back to the mixer. i don't remember exactly, but i read something about it in a recording magazine a couple of years ago. i'm sure you don't have to, like it will work anyways, bu...

I considered that, honestly I did. But its really cold outside, and quite frankly if anyone needs to get out and get some sunshine more often its that lazy sampler. All it does is sit in the damn rack all the time and talks back to me when I try to make it do any work.

Seriously though, nobody knows?

Roland S-330: open WHAT window?

Does anyone know what my S-330 is trying to tell me when it displays the message "please open window!"? I have no clue what window it is talking about, and I haven't found anything in the manual that explains this. It happens when I put a disk in and try to enter certain modes... specifically the ut...

The other book is 'Sound Synthesis: analog and digital techniques', by Thomas Terence and it was published in 1990. Again, I don't know how useful these really are; both books have pretty basic circuits, and neither provides too many options for controlling the synths if you don't have a CV keyboard...

I was also going to recommend the 'Music Synthesizers: A manual of design and construction' book. I currently have it out from my local library, as well as a second synth book from around the same time. I'll post the title for that one when I can remember it. I don't know exactly how usefull they ar...

Thanks! That WIKI clip is really helpful...

Also, I'll take the advice that if I see some boxes of DD's kicking around, I'll grab them. In the mean time, I'm going to try my luck with formatting fresh HD's for the S-330. Hope it works!

Cheers

What is the difference between 2DD and 2HD floppy disks?

I just got a Roland S-330 sampler, and the manual says that it uses 2DD floppy disks to save info. So if I want to save my own patches, will I have to use (and find) 2DD disks? All the disks I have are 2HD... what's is the difference? I have a Roland MC-something-or-other sequencer (which maybe you ...
