Without knobs the synth is basically useless- yes you can map the 3 rotary encoders to a function, i.e. one for decay, one for osc1, etc but this is not global- you have to create maps for *every* patch you select. And while i bought the Behringer BCR2000 midi controller to use with the Micron (it ...

First , it's not because a certain synth is promoted or received as trancy (insert other style) , that this is the only use of it. The person of the artist makes the music, not the synthesizer. Secondly, there are 2 approaches to learning synths. You can buy a simple synth with a simple lay-out an t...

Look at the "MIDI controller for Alesis Micron" thread in general synthesizers. I thought of mine as quite solid though lots of folks have complained about the fragility of the one very important knob. As far as I remember, there is a difference between older and newer microns. The axis of the param...

Mind that in contrast to an ion , the micron does not respond (except in it's modulation matrix) to Continuous Controllers. To automate the micron your midi controller needs to support NRPN's (12-bit 16384 steps, although the largest parameter on the micron only has around 1000 steps.) For example, ...

Almost always I start from blanks. Basically I work with concepts such as: "today, I'm going to do something with audio rate filtermodulation" or "make a few as different as possible sounds with 3 oscillators, parallel filtering and no modulation.""synced osc + any modulation" etc.... When I find so...

I had problems when I wanted to make my own templates. The program didn't want to run correctly (or at all, i can't remember anymore). The solution was the installation of a previous specific version of JAVA. I fear for future use. But for the price, i like it and it has served me well till now.

Anyone have a audio interface under $500 with like, no latency I can use on a Windows PC? I tried sampling through my Presonus Inspire and the sampling came out all metallic-like, unlike I am doing something wrong? The latency is at 6 ms, but it does the same thing at 10 ms as well. You might inser...

Warmness? I'm not so sure... it still sounds digital to me. Of course, one shouldn't expect wonders with this little thing. But I think we all agree that in the end, that it does what it has to do. Most effectively, I have been using this one also on drums, low pads (more body), making my dx200 sou...

I've got also a LPB 2ube and, although I have no experience with high-end gear, it was perfectly what I was looking for and it answered my soundwise expectations (see below) The reasons why I bought it were: -Stereo -Distortion (Mono and stereo) -Warming up my VA synths (DX200 and Micron) - I (first...

Something I'm wondering for a long time now: Are the oscillators and the filters of the NM (G2) and the NL(2) the same or are they different circuits from the same company. Since NL2 racks are quite cheap now secondhands, does it justify a purchase -already owing a Modular- or will I get two synths ...

A great exercise might indeed be trying to make your own "initial patch". Take a patch wich you think sounds quite simple and decide for each parameter what it's initial state should be (e.g. Disabele the dual/split mode and set it on lower (important!), the filter -in lowpass mode, the other way ar...

Most probably you have done this already, but I'd weight some needs: -Mono vs. poly -transportable vs untransportable -direct need vs longterm acquisition -studio vs stage I myself am also thinking about saving for an A6 or going modular. Right now the idea of a modular is winning because since 1) t...

I am fullly aware of vast difference between a DCO and VCO bottom line I dont what a new prophet with a digital oscillators, I want them to be voltage controlled. I want pure analog... thats my turn off....the new prophet should be 100% analog...it Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about...
