Re: Anyone used an Alesis Sample Rack as a Phrase Sampler/Playback Sampler?

Thanks guys! @Salwa - I haven't tried a SP-404, although I have had an SP-505, and it felt a bit too overcomplicated to achieve relatively simple results when I tried to control it externally - partially because I got caught up with unwanted sequencer triggering when my main sequencer sent a "Start"...

Anyone used an Alesis Sample Rack as a Phrase Sampler/Playback Sampler?

Hi all - unnecessarily long question that may or may not have an even longer answer... I'm almost entirely hardware-based (although I tend to manipulate samples on a PC before uploading to a hardware sampler, purely for convenience). However, although I have the big, "traditional" samplers nailed in...

Roland Alpha Juno and MKS 7 Presets for Behringer BCF2000?

Hi all. I just bought a Behringer BCF2000 control surface with the intention of using it to control both my Roland Alpha Juno 1 and Roland MKS 7. Obviously it needs to be programmed to send the correct CC/SysEx data, and apparently the easiest way of doing this is to train it. However, it looks like...

MIDI DIP Switch Settings for MFB Synth Lite?

Hi all, I've just picked up an MFB Synth Lite (version 1) and it came with no manual. It seems that I have to set the MIDI receive channel using a series of DIP switches, but I have no idea which does what and I can't find the manual online anywhere. Does anyone have any idea what the switch setting...

Sending SysEx patches to Yamaha TX7

Hi guys... I'm having a minor nightmare trying to populate a recently-acquired Yamaha TX7 with patches downloaded from various websites. Basically, the TX7 seems to steadfastly ignore SysEx. I'm using MIDI-OX and a generic USB interface to send (although I've also tried various combinations includin...

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll give them a call... There's nothing exactly right on the site, but they may have an idea!

Akai Remix 16 SCSI?

Ok guys... I KNOW this is a massively long shot, but I'm in urgent need of a SCSI board for an Akai Remix 16. The Akai part number is IB-16S. Does anyone know either if there's anywhere at all that I can get hold of one of these? If not, does anyone know if any compatibles exist anywhere? Thanks to ...

MC-808 Write Button Not Working!

Hi guys... Uh... Help..?! I recently picked up a 2nd hand Roland MC-808, and when I go to save patterns or patches, I press the "Write" button, as per the instruction manual, and nothing happens. No display change, no warning, nothing. It CERTAINLY doesn't as for a name or location to save in and al...

Re: On-the-fly Phrase Sampling/Looping

So... Potentially KP3, Kaossilator Pro, EHX 2880 or Octatrack (which I doubt very much that I'll be able to afford/justify!). Looks like I'll probably need a couple of 4-track loopers then, unless someone know whether any or all of the Boss SP-series are able to assign sampled loops to pads without ...

Re: On-the-fly Phrase Sampling/Looping

Did you consider the RED SOUND SoundBite PRO?

It doesn't have midi but it's a cool little live sampler.
Unfortunately not - it has to have MIDI as I'm intending to sync other MIDI gear to it automatically...

Re: On-the-fly Phrase Sampling/Looping

Thanks for the info guys!

Re the inability to assign sampled loops to pads without stopping playback on the SP-555, can anyone confirm this?

That would be a serious problem, as I need seamless transitions.

Is this something that CAN be done on the other SPs?

On-the-fly Phrase Sampling/Looping

Hi guys. Quick question that someone here may have some insight on... I'm looking to buy a hardware sampler that will sample and loop, on-the-fly, whilst syncing to a tempo input via MIDI. Basically, I want to capture and loop audio input live, as well as layer and cut-in/out multiple loops - prefer...

Hmmm... I'll look. The thing is, the best quote I have for the repair professionally is £150, and I could buy a working Poly for that..!

Re: Computerless live rig

I only ever perform live and computerless, and I usually use a pair of Alesis MMT-8 sequencers and an E-Mu ESI-4000 for samples. That particular setup has never let me down, so I'm more than happy to recommend it! (BTW - I do also use Roland Grooveboxes, but they're mostly unsuitable for your needs,...
