Re: Roland D50 Plugin Goodies

Thanks desmond, for converting all those!

It was so nice getting to play with my old bank in the plugin. I think Roland did a great job here, the sound is correct, the GUI is nice. Just too bad they went with the subscribtion thing.

Deler det håpet logix :D
It's strange because the theme is almost MORE powerful without the guitar. That buildup.. Great stuff.

Re: Harold Faltermeyer (80's, Beverly Hills cop, Fletch etc.

Thanks D-collector :) Yes the remakes were released, but afaik only as a digital download. The new la la land releases are indeed the original film scores, ie the complete instrumental scores including the most notable songs. I have both CD's and they couldn't sound any better. Loving them! Afaik t...

Re: Harold Faltermeyer (80's, Beverly Hills cop, Fletch etc.

From what I understand he did the blip-bloppy "water drops" (or "footsteps") on the Roland system 100m. You can see him working on that sound in this video clip https://youtu.be/PkQUzbeguUM?t=5140 (note the system 700 to the left). In the same clip he's seen programming the lead line on the Jup-8 h...

Re: Roland's Jupiter-8, Juno-106 and System-8 plugins availa

But several people are talking about an upcoming true D-50 vst, a complete emulation. Don't know if it is just a false internet rumor, but now would be a good time to bring it out. The source of this news is Roland themselves, via the RolandCloud facebook page. Probably another reason they didn't w...

Re: Roland's Jupiter-8, Juno-106 and System-8 plugins availa

Speaking of UVI, check out their Digital Synsations. I've heard a demo of the Roland subscription version, and generally wasn't that impressed. The current Anthology plugin is not made by Roland, it's made by a third-party they've teamed up with on this Cloud thing. And it's just a bunch of presets...

Re: Have you noticed Roland D50 being so expensive?

In sysexD50 it had to be on "one way", at least for me. And choose "Bulk Receive Open" on the D-50.

Re: Have you noticed Roland D50 being so expensive?

Which 4? :) I'm having some trouble getting the sysex transfer on mine so switching out banks is proving to be a massive time waster. It would help to have some narrowing down of good stuff. It was 4 banks that I compiled myself with sysexD50, taking patches from wherever I found good ones and putt...

Re: Have you noticed Roland D50 being so expensive?

The D50 was probably Roland's last synth with 'character' until the V-Synth but that's just my opinion. I sold the keyboard for £150 to get an E-mu ESI4000 and the module was replaced with my first JV1080. I agree to a certain extent. I had two JV-880 rack modules on loan for a half year once and I...

Re: Have you noticed Roland D50 being so expensive?

Use SysexD50 to build your favorite banks. I sold my D-50 some years ago because I wanted one in better condition. Sold all the Roland factory ROM cards too, since we have them in sysex anyway and few sounds are actually usable. But I held on to my RAM card with my own soundbank, still have it in st...

Re: Have you noticed Roland D50 being so expensive?

Next thing you need to do, is go here, and download the huge archive of soundbanks https://www.cultofd50.org/downloads.htm I remember in 2006 going through all, I mean ALL soundbanks I found on the net. I worked my way down to around 4 banks of favorites  All the hours I will never get back :r...

Re: Roland's Jupiter-8, Juno-106 and System-8 plugins availa

That subscribtion bs is one of the best things Roland could do to alienate their customers. Seriously, what are they thinking...? I read somewhere that you will be able, after a year of subscribtion, to "own" a plugin of your choice  Wooow, thats nice right? And why not just call them VSTs? Wor...

Congratulations! Nice to hear :) Is it your first D-50?

I really miss mine..

Re: Roger Powell's "Texture" and "Prism" sequencers...

Yeah, same experience here. I got it running in a DOS-box and was able to load my old songs in a newer version and save them as midi files, though. I will have a look for Prism on old backups. I remember I had it installed, at one point in time. Cool! any links to the music you have made with it? :...

Re: Roger Powell's "Texture" and "Prism" sequencers...

Well, I never could get it to work on my DOS computer as it didn't work with MPU-401 emulation on the Soundblaster 16. I have been able to run in DOSBox but I've never sequenced anything as there are crashes. Yeah! I am also so frustrated that there are no other pattern based MIDI sequencers for DOS...
