Im also using a Godin, an ACS. The synth tracking on the nylon string ACS the best if you can stand playing on nylon. Note that for the good sound you will want to be using 6 voices, one for each string. String bends and the like will be translated but will swamp your system with a lot of MIDI messa...

Hey Rickrhino, is that Chief Blackhawk? Being from the midwest Calumet region ages ago it kind of looks familiar. I'd be careful what I would pay for a G4 but I would not call it outmoded just yet. They are holding their value for a reason. IBM is still using the ppc chip in their high end server li...

I'm running on a 1GHz Power PC G4 Powerbook with 768 MB of RAM. Has plenty of gas for music. I'd be happy with a G4 at half that speed. Remember that Power PC CPUs like the G4 are much faster at doing music than their modest speed may indicate. They exceed most other general purpose CPU chips at doi...

Hey, Mr Bill, I still use my K2000RS. The Kurz gives the samples some sort of character that sits in the mix good. Hardware samplers are real musical instruments in their own right with their own set of quirks that can be exploited musically. A retro styled hardware sampler using today's technology ...

Read the very Fine manual and it did not jump out at me either. hmm. RTFM to me always sounds like cranky IT people wearing wide ties back in the 70s. Maybe I missed something. probably so. Has anyone actually read something on this somewhere? Seems like, ahem, a "reasonable" attempt to make. Oh wel...

I'd think that audible loss of quality is a relative thing. Depends on the material. Samples with a lot of high frequency content at the higher ranges might not make it. Lead sounds would probably take the treatment. Some vocals do not like to be messed with and others can take it to some extent. Gi...

I'm looking to *buy* a polivoks. I've done some research and it seems to me that from what I heard the tuning on them is a more than a bit dodgy than usual anyway. Out of tune entry level Moog might just be spot on. If I can ever find one of those things out here in Rainworld I'll let you know how i...
