Maybe a JV-1080? I do like the MKS-70 for the price.
I was going to say D-550 because they were cheap a few years ago. But wow - they have gone up!

LOL! These guys will never finish this. But, they have the "beta" version which works ok. http://users.encounters.be/D50VE/download.html IIRC in editor Pulse wave selection does not work. That's the only thing you need to do manually on D-50. Don't know if this bug exists on D-550 because i use Sou...

Sorry, i quoted the wrong part of message. I meant about the "better" part. Previously i found JD-990 much better, but then one day i got some patches from Analog Kid and it totally changed my mind (he has the biggest D-50 patch archive on the web). I was blown away when i heard some of those patch...

Prepare to be assimilated. You're on the same road I was on about six months ago. I was so pumped when I got my D-550. It is sweet! A few weeks after I got my JD-990, the D-550 went in the closet! Sorry but i can't agree with that. I have both units. Neither can D-550 sound like JD-990, neither can...

yep, just gotta track one down and im set. This thing is sweet! This has offically staved off my hunger for a JD synth. But I wish it was multitimbral. Prepare to be assimilated. You're on the same road I was on about six months ago. I was so pumped when I got my D-550. It is sweet! A few weeks aft...

Price an AN1x lately? :) Cheaper than a decent MIDI controller. Nice keybed with aftertouch, full VA synth more flexible than the JP8K. Different sound. Pick them up for under $300US. Kind of weak in the knobs'n'faders department, though... yeah, I have always heard great reviews of the an1x, BUT t...

JP-8000 is a steal compared to other VA's, I love it. Paid $500 for mine. Price an AN1x lately? :) Cheaper than a decent MIDI controller. Nice keybed with aftertouch, full VA synth more flexible than the JP8K. Different sound. Pick them up for under $300US. Kind of weak in the knobs'n'faders depart...

Thanx Bgi, I'm on Mac btw. So my Mac transfers patches via USB midi interface and the sysex explorer program? I was away from my Mac and botched the name. It's Sysex Librarian. You'll need a MIDI interface. I really like the Edirol 3-port USB one. Good price for 3 ports. http://www.snoize.com/SysEx...
