Re: Aren't we due for a new Yamaha QY module?

Yamaha has officially discontinued the QY100. It was quietly removed from the current models website at some point this year. None of the major retailers stock it anymore. Any chance we'll get a new model now? Earlier in this thread we discussed iPads and software - that solution seems much more lik...

Re: Songs with Casio or Yamaha keyboards?

PYT by Michael Jackson used a Yamaha portasound keyboard for the chord stabs in the verses.

Re: Thoughts on the CZ-5000

HZ-1? Never heard of that model. Do you mean the VZ-1? The VZ-1 is an absoute beast of a digital synth. Lot of sonic range and it has a deep bass depth that the CZ series lacked. Huge pain to program though. I had a VZ-1 and a CZ-1 in my studio for years but they just never got used that much due to...

Re: How to DIY repaint a synth (w/ mask, writings...)

I rescreened / painted a Jupiter-6. I sent the panels to CustomSynth UK :) came back looking gorgeous! How much did it cost you? I'll see if I can find the invoice. 3 or 4 hundred (US) plus shipping both ways, if memory serves. Google "white Roland Jupiter-6" for pics. Very nice work. I sold it a f...

Re: Roland Boutique

Admit I've not read the whole thread, but these look like they are supposed to be comparable or compete with Yamaha's Reface line, and if that is so then I'd say +20 to Roland. Yeah, not much of a competition. I think the Reface line is almost comical in its price/performance ratio and it seems mos...

Re: What are your thoughts on the Casio HT-6000? (Just got o

I got the HZ600 which is the speakerless version of it. prety cool sounds even if it is super thin sounding. The HZ600 is actually the "pro" (speakerless) version of the HT700. It's an important distinction because the HZ only has 1 filter for all voices (similar to the Korg poly-800). The HT6000 i...

Re: Would the Korg M1 be a decent synth for darker music?

If you are looking for certain key sounds the M1 is famous for (such as the organ and piano used in lots of 90's house tracks) then the X3 isn't suitable since it contains a different sample set. Just something to keep in mind if you are after particular M1 sounds.
