Don't forget the mattson has some unique capabilities. That one oscillator is capable of multiple simultaneous octaves. I had the pleasure of screwing around with it at its debut @ PNWSM, and it had lots of personality, though it was only a prototype.

iirc, ucapps's midibox diy platform might have some midi filter designs.

I've seen some stuff about natural alternatives to semiconductors, for instance certain chemicals(?) resonate naturally or something and can be used as oscillators. Maybe someone knows which sdiy page I'm thinking of?

Generally scopes have BNC inputs. Wire it up so one axis goes to ground and the other to your signal. Any cheap 10mhz scope will be fine for audio spectrum signals.

CS-80 and 2600 are both made for beginners...

um... reason? or any sequencer with some sampling software. you'll still need a midi controller of some sort to enter notes with, though...

He ran a lot of stuff through the 2600 when he first got access to flood's during the recording of TDS. There has been one in the background of a pic at nothing stufios post TF pre WT, but no indications otherwise that he's used it since then.

TR used the extensive FM modulation capabilities of the Xpander for a lot of the stranger sounds on PHM. I get the feeling that the Thats What I Get patch is just run through a bit reducer of some kind.

Certainly some interesting polyphonies.
