Re: JD-Xi Programming Tedium
My take on low budget synths of today is the knobby ones don't have enough features and the ones with enough features are lacking in knobs. Having grown up with knobless digital synths, I'll always take features over knobs but when the two intersect like in the Evolver I really like it. I was initi...

Re: JD-Xi Programming Tedium
I figured out how to change the osc parts in the manual. Still tedious. I'm not sure how much more than couch sitting jam toy this purchase may be...but I also don't want to drop money and end up wanting more functionality later... Going past the gimmicky side of it...which is thick, it seems like a...

JD-Xi Programming Tedium
Long time, no posts. So, I sold all of my synths/samplers/drum machines etc a couple of years back. Graduate school etc. Been looking in to building up some things again. I've been eyeing the Roland Jd-xi, which seems like a cool instrument. I played with one at a store today, and was annoyed at the...

Re: Just got an Ensoniq ESQ-1
$45-$60 is ridiculous for a battery replacement, but that's probably the going rate. Its a part worth a few dollars , removal of screws, and soldering... yea, i guess labor kills it. yeah the battery replacement is a real PitA. If you are REALLY good with a soldering iron you can do it without remo...

Re: Which Synth Had The Worst User Interface Ever?
A woman synth has the worst user interface ever. Difficult to understand, has deep programming, you forever need to refer to the manual, and if you push the wrong buttons your in trouble. yeah, but at least if you get to stick your d**k inside her, you won't get a shocked c**k... Unless she's got a...

Re: Synth-Shrink
If you're going to keep one keyboard as a MIDI master, keep the DX7. The 106 is a great synth, but it has some MIDI weirdness that makes it a not very good master keyboard. And it doesn't do velocity; the DX7 does. The original DX7 didn't implement the full range of midi velocity values (0 - 127). ...

Re: Synth-Shrink
yamaha dx200 would be good for the dx...plus you'd get drum sounds and a sequencer.
may look in to the an200 too...for the more analogish sounds (same engine as an1x)
they have software stuff for deeper programming, but offer a lot from the box too.
plus knobby dx is good.
