Re: V synth vs V synth GT
korg m3 is a great sampler roland vsynth is a great looper both are clean in the sense what you put in is what you get out. both are easy to use. m3 is multi-timbural, suffers from usual sample playback type artifacts but we've all grown used to that sound. v-synth's timburality is...different. the ...

Re: touchscreens (reactable, lemur, etc)
for those in the usa w/a costco membership (or a best buy nearby), HP has a multi touch all in one cpu < $900. The screen was laggy though, looks like there might be an iteration or two before it gets snappy enough. I'm sure the ipad will be snappy enough. while i prefer knobs above all, fab filter ...

Re: SH-101 tuning.
Thanks Casio CZ, that's what I was afraid of. I had the black lead attached to a the screw near the pitch bend and the red on any of the three CV out leads. Spinning D/A R2 had zero effect on the voltage, which seemed to be locked in at -6.5 mV. The pitch is fine for me. but the arp, sequencer and l...

Re: SH-101 tuning -- how?
D/A calibration is for oscillator tuning from the 101's keyboard scans. Is the LFO light blinking? Does Mod work when you switch to noise? The LFO actually goes to the CPU's T1 input, which is used to clock the arpeggio and sequencer. The external clock input is a switched jack that will override t...

Re: SH-101 tuning -- how?
Hey all, I've got a sh101 with no arp and no sequencer--nor an lfo, apparently. I'm wondering if I need to do the DA tuning procedure mentioned here. I've got one of those crafstman multimeter--can I use that? I assume I'd set it to DC. Where would I stick the red lead and where would I stick the bl...

Re: 777 Wankery
Well, it has been a nice year of wanking with the 777. I will continue to do so of course. However, I feel this thread has about run its course. I hope I have shown some different forms of the 777, and while I have not dropped any super enlightening bombs, over the past year I personally have gotten...

:color: :happy7: :color: Ah yes sunshine. Gone in the Northern Hemisphere, found in the Southern. Ironic? Hard to conceive of a sunny christmas if you live well north of the tropics I suppose. At any rate, here the future retro gang (as promised) gets together with the jomox to see what can be done....

Re: 777 Wankery
In all prior postings, the Future Retro gang had been hooked on the infernal digital gateway drug, midi sync; they moved onto heavier stuff, full on midi integration. Loving the taste, they peer pressured the wee jomox into cooperation--what a lumping the 999 took! that recording is for a different ...

Re: 777 Wankery
ahh summer has come and gone. with the darkness of winter and an economic contraction comes a musical contraction. The 777 stands proud, alone, ready with analog delay in hand to deliver acid to the ears of the willing. a six minute 777 solo--can the world handle it? If I can listen to a drummer sol...

Re: Analog doesn't sound Analogue
funny about the XS--that way my guess!! Same time, although its possible to make the XS sound VA, its really easy to slide it out of VA territory with but a few patch cords and a flick of the osc sync switch! The XS doesn't warble the same way as other synths do. Not sure why. Maybe it does, but onl...
