Re: Looking for a step sequencer

The obvious reply would be EMX-1. Newer MPCs with JJ OS (1000, 2500) have more precise and evolved seqeuncing capabilities but are not as immediate.

Vintage/modular synth stores in Paris?

I've found a number of stores there, but only Mesi/Modularsquare has some modular stuff. Are there any other good synth stores in Paris? Thanks.

i don't think so, they sound like samples to me. it appears that the modular is used to process samples near the end of the song (starting at 3:13)

there's a moog voyager, that poly synth in the end looks like poly evolver (back-lit wheels). there's a doepfer sequencer behind drummer and a eurorack modular, most likely doepfer, too.

as for the new style... overall i like "third", it's even. there are no songs i'd skip.

It's easy to use for basic stuff, like sampling and effects/synth, getting most of it would require some time. I haven't used cubase, in comparison to logic it has some drawbacks: only 1 effects processor and 808 can't display all tracks as waveforms during playback (all hardware recorders i'm aware...

no, you'll have to assemble paia stuff yourself. the kit on their site is just a package of everything needed to assemble the 9700 modular. paia modules are fracrack (there's one difference though: paia requires 18V and not 15V like other fracks, but you can make paia run on 15V), which means they a...

psyclon nine used korg ms2000, korg karma, novation bass station, nord lead 3. probably something else.. they were going to buy a virus ti, too.

you can start with a nord 2, an mpc and an FX unit. after some time with them you'll know what additional gear you need.

if i were you, i'd get in addition:
at least one analog mono: waldorf pulse, novation bass station, dsi evolver (seriously, it's being suggested in every what-should-i-get-for-industrial topic) etc.
FX box and/or guitar pedals

what electronic drums are you going to buy? do you play drums?

A LOT of menu-diving. that's my main gripe about it. could be great midi controller though. shaft9000 pretty much listed everything i had to say about it.

good digital synth if you don't mind its interface.
