Aha!

So Braincandy and Clusterchord, it is still an obsession, no matter how you cut it. And the really dangerous thing is, I am making more than I have ever made, so the debt thing is not a hard stop for this aging fart. Although, once I buy that MonoPoly, or a Mini D, I will be OK for a while. Sound fa...

Bitexion, you scorched me!

You did me in with that DX7 comment. I am more than guilty of absolute boredom with user manuals. I do better with the more expensive DVD training stuff. What does that say about my attention span at 55? I have every manual on everything in my signature block, including a book on the MonoPoly and th...

Bitexion, you are more than right!

I had about 500 songs I knew when I had a Vox Jaguar only in the 60's. I had a micromoog, wurlitzer EP and an Elka electronic clavinet? (forget which model, but it was the one with the gold colored harp inside), and I composed 2 albums worth of material with my band in the late 70's in the NYC area ...

Justin

Maybe the Poly 61 uses curtis chips? I got my Akai with 1 busted voice for cheap and bought the right chip, and bingo, I have a flawless AX60 that sounds pretty damn cool. Thought about the Korg 61 you have, but will still wait around for a Polysix, I believe. Got a clunker one last spring and sold/...

YEOW!

Looks like I am truly screwed. I was hoping for some relief. The greed is part of it, the possibility to find a truly wonderful sound is another.

It is as if I am certain the designer(s) hid something that only I can find.

Mono/Poly or PolySix sound like what to get.

Or a Mini D.

Losing my fight with my obsession!

OK. I thought my collection would keep my attention, even through surgery to my right hand, which is recovering. I still have a jones for the following in good or great condition: Polysix Mono Poly JP800 JD8000 Anything else that is similar except the AN1X (I have the Motif Board) and less than $750...

Yep!

My P800 Mk2 and DX7 are both noisy.

My AX60, MG1 and Juno 60 are not.

Seems sometimes my Nord gets sleazy too.

Not sure why.

Internet in 85?

Yes! I worked for MCI and we were the people building the initial DS1's in the US to the design handed to us from DARPA for free. My avidfan handle was my first email, no longer with MCI of course, but for 22 years, I have kept it alive. Emails, boards, and some damn weird stuff going on with DEC ge...

Thanks for the insights, but......

I am definitely NOT a software person yet. I am a bit old-fashioned in that I have boards, and the MTron thing was a fluke for me. I even bought an iMac to load it on, but I am not even close to understanding software to produce music on. I even bought a Tascam 2480 Mk2 due to my lameness. I could h...

MTron but.......

I own a standalone copy of MTron, and use a nice Edirol Roland to play it. But I do notice that there are some sounds truly missing. The choirs seem to be a bit thin, and the Cello Strings has a half dead B key with the cello missing. Anyone know of add-ins that I could load on my iMac and use it wi...

Who'd have thunk it?

Really, what are the chances of 3 VA's all coming in detuned from 3 geographically diverse US locations? As the Blue Rajah said in Mystery Men, VERRRRY MYSTERIOUS! The MS2K was a ton of work to figure out, and then all that damn altering. I finally got it down to where I would set the global button,...

Mixed situations

The Ion master tune was off, so reloading it was all it took, but that was 2 days of intense questions all over the place. Weird thing was that it thought it was at 440 and it was actually 424 according to my meters. That was the wild one, or so I thought......... The MS2k was one where 440 was only...

Second to the DX7 and Motif6

I have a lot of boards, and those yamaha's seem to have it right.

I like the Juno60 just cause I like it.

I hate the MG1 but I can seem to go very fast on it. NOISY clanking.

Ion and Nord stink.

Used synths Tuning mystery?????

OK, so I bought an MS2000 in outrageous shape, a Nord Lead in almost outrageous shape, and an Alesis Ion in OK shape. Needed to really lube the buttons on the Ion to get them to work. With each one, I found that all 3 boards were detuned significantly off of A440! In the case of the Ion, I had to st...

Thanks, Raiven!

I am seriously considering both a P8 and a Minimoog, not voyager. Although, in the movie done right before he passed, Bob Moog was futzing with a Voyager, and I finally realized that there were some interesting features on the Voyager that he had supervised the development of. Now I know there are a...
