Re: Top 20 Most Unreliable Vintage Synths
The Minimoog commonly has this problem where only one note will sound at a time. I think it should really be avoided. If you have one, maybe put it on ebay for a BIN of $400?

Re: Ensonic EPS - Key quality?
I find the action to be quite odd - "clacky" is the best way I can describe it. Mind you, i found it by the side of the road, so I'm not sure whether mine needs to be adjusted in some way. I'm only using mine as a controller at the moment as I haven't figured out how to sample yet. I'll have to chec...

Re: Ensoniq EPS - need grand piano sound
Nice find. I found one by the side of the road a couple of years ago.
You'll need the OS disc as well as samples. The factory sounds and OS can be downloaded from the yahoo group:
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/En ... SR10-EPS16
There's a grand piano in there.

Re: what age did you get into synthesis?
I didn't realise it was a competition. In any case I'm currently winning as the oldest person here to get into synthesis.

Re: what age did you get into synthesis?
Bought my first synth (SH-101) aged 19.
First got into synthesis aged 42.
Finding an SH-101 in my parents house after 17 years or so - Priceless.

I've got one I bought new in ~1990. Still have the manual too. In fact I still have the original box. What would you like to know? Mine will be going on ebay soon so that will give you an idea of value. Last one I saw went for only a bit over $100. I'm not sure why the bigger, older MKS-20 sells for...

I'd suggest a Kurz PC2R w classic keys. Good bread and butter sounds, excellent pianos and EPs, but only average Hammond emulation and no combo organ. Should pick one up s/h for $500. Emu vintage keys rack has an excellent Vox if that is an important sound. EPs are pretty average. Cheaper than the K...

Got a yamaha crappy portatone for free but swapped it for Casio MT-70 - Score! My sister in law uses the yamaha for her kids piano practice. Found 2 keyboards by the side of the road for council pickup: - clavinova with a few keys not working - I gave it away and a friends child is using it to learn...
