Oberheim OB8 vs u-he Diva
I thought the VSE crowd may be interested in a test I did recently. Ive spent a lot of time looking at u-he Diva and seeing if I can make it sound like my OB8. I got quite close but can you tell which is Synth A and which is B? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca-vd1qwctY https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Korg TR Rack editor...for mac
Does anyone know of an editor I can use for the TR Rack? I need something to be able to get in and change the Oscillators - seeing as you cant do that from the panel... I dont need anything sophisticated - just to work on patches... I dont want to go the MIDIQuest route as Ive heard it hardly ever w...

Re: Arturia Minibrute vs Roland SH-2....RAW SAWTOOTH
the SH2 has a more vintage tone than the brute-I think its prob a bit 'fatter'. I think the brute does sound more raw than the mopho tho...seems to have quite an edgy sound. Ive had an SH2 and mopho but not a brute. Personally I dont like the sound of it - seems a bit edgy to me - but some love it a...

Re: Analog Solutions Leipzig VS. Arturia MiniBrute
Yeah the Leipzig is a dual VCO synth. It's a great sounding synthesizer with a lot of punch and low tones to die for. The Leipzig also has a great LFO that you can detune to at minimum and maximum setting it bumps up and down one octave. Kinda cool in my opinion. It's filter is sweet too. Great LPF...

Re: Polysix, Prophet 600, Jupiter 6; (most like Prophet 5?)
Prophet 600...closest you can get to the P5 - but its more brash and the envelopes are slow. The others arent really like a P5 at all.
Others worth considering are a OB8 or a Prophet 08. However - only a P5 will really sound like a P5...but you can start with one of these...

Re: DSI Prophet '08 vs. Oberheim OB-8
I have an OB8 and have tried/owned the DSI stuff a fair amount. Its a decision that is dependent on what sort of analogue sound you like - and how highly you value versatility and options... The OB8 to me has a more vintage tone which is preferable to me. It also sounds more organic. The MIDI isnt a...

Re: Oberheim Xpander - "slow" envelope rectification
Having been convinced, and having convinced myself that the Xpander will always have eternally slow envelopes, I thought I'd give it a whirl and see how "fast" I could make them. The key is cutting out as much modulation as possible and even using one envelope for both filter and amp (later I used ...

Re: analog on a budget
Get an MFB synth (SYnth 2, Nanozwerg, Microzwerg) - they are quite dirty and good for a sort of LCD Soundsystem sound...but thats 1 note at a time...team it up with a Oberheim Matrix 1000 and you have a nice cheap proper analogue set-up...dont go near any Virtual analogue - probably too clean and di...
