Re: JD800 pitch bend problem

Thanks for your answer, no hard knocks to the pitchbend, but before this happened the last thing I remember doing was pushing hard for max modulation (which like the aftertouch requires a hard push). I was hoping for a recalibration mode, which would have been great as the bender is sending out MIDI...

Re: JD800 pitch bend problem

Diagnostic mode shows the pitch bend goes down to about -80 or so before jumping straight up to +128. Wee bit of contact cleaner sprayed in topside but no joy, looks like I'm opening her up then... :(

JD800 pitch bend problem

My JD's pitch bend has decided the only way is up! Bending up is fine, bending down works for about a 3rd of the downward travel and then pushing any further sends the pitch up. I'm assuming it just needs a clean, or perhaps there is a recalibration preocedure which I'd rather use (not confident in ...

Re: contemplating selling my prophet 600

I'm probably in the minority here, but I find the Nord Leads 1 and 2 some of the most boring synths I've ever played. Yes, they have a sound some artists have done interesting things with, but they sound dull and lifeless to me. Lovely to look at mind, but the Nord Leads along with the Novation Supe...

Re: $200 SH-09!

Got my SH2 for £235 (few years back) and my Juno 60 for £175 (years ago but it was still a great price).

I've never paid over the odds but the best prices I've ever had were never on ebay.

I had a chance at a mint Minimoog for £400 once. That's my one synth buying regret...

Re: Most important synthesisers in evolution of electronic m

The OP might find it useful to look up these, sorry no links, but easy enough to find on youtube I would think... Sonicstate's Top 20 synths of all time... The shape of things that hum (episodes on 303, 808, DX7, Fairlight etc) and for some historical perspective Synth Britannia Lots of decent docs ...

Re: Analog Four interfacing question

Some great replies here guys, cheers for that. Nice to know the A4 has key scaling options, I think the problem with most new synths with built in Midi- CV/Gate conversion is that they lack these features. The portamento options would be a great update, and Elektron do have a history of continued su...

Analog Four interfacing question

I am really taken with the Elektron Analog Four at the mo, I can't remember being so excited by a new product in ages, could be right up my street. Thinking of selling my Juno 60 to fund it (which will be hard for me as my Juno was the first synth I ever loved, but I've had it 18 years and I'm not u...

Re: Why the V-Synth is the best thing Roland ever did

Interesting opinion, and the V synth is just wonderful. The detail in it's sounds is just stunning. I will have one one day. On a similar note I got thinking recently about the JD800 and would like to propose that it was possibly the bravest thing Roland ever done. Consider the time of it's launch, ...

Re: larry heards jupiter 6

Just dug out that old interview, recordbot is quite right, Heard says that it was a Jupiter 6 on Can You Feel It (he used the 707 and Juno 6 on Washing Machine). Apologies :)

Re: larry heards jupiter 6

Pretty sure I've read a Larry Heard interview that it was a happy accident with a Juno 6 arp triggered from a 707 (music technology magazine I think, I know it's in the same issue as an early Prodigy interview and a JV80 review, so 1992 I would guess).

Re: Reliability of synthesizers

reliability hasn't been much of an issue for me, a minor annoyance from time to time, but most synth I've owned have been well behaved. The few issues I have encountered are... Yamaha rubber buttons on SY series synths, quite poor quality. 808 start-stop button. Mounted quite loose but manageable. I...
