Re: Gear Trading Thread

I'd like to trade my DW-8000 and ESQ-1 for a matrix6 or 6r in good working order.
Both are fully functional and have been recently serviced. Msg me if interested.

Re: Favorite synth sounds

1) Any synth sound on Stevie Wonder's " Innervisions " 2) Whatever Brian Eno was using for " An Ending (Ascent) " 3) Simple Sinewave Sub-basslines. So simple but few things can enrich a track like deep bass. 4) Garage/Dubstep Wobble Bass - Same as above. 5) Supersaw __________ - Yeah, overused we al...

Re: I Need suggestions. Best way to trigger samples/loops live ?

I upgraded my Ableton yesterday. I think that will be my best bet for now, using the tap tempo to trigger. I'm sure it will be close enough for a drunken audience, who despite my ego's wildest dreams , probably won't really pay too much attention to the keyboardist unless it's during backing vocals ...

Re: I Need suggestions. Best way to trigger samples/loops live ?

Thanks guys - Pflosi - MPCs aren't my cup of tea, but I guess if they had been i might not have this dilemma ! I guess I need to really dive into ableton and upgrade. My next show isn't until January 16 , so I've got some time to get some stuff together. I'd just prefer not to have to buy a bunch of...

I Need suggestions. Best way to trigger samples/loops live ?

Hey guys, have been away from the forum for quite some time. I could use some advice ! A little background info: My hip hop act has caught a potential break recently. I don't want to say too much a jinx it, but we have a showcase with a label that has done great things for the genre in May ! So we'r...

My hope is that we can all just wait it out , the age of mp3 that is. I found an old ad the other day of a " blazing fast " computer circa 1994 with an amazing 128 MB Hard Drive. Mp3s will be tomorrows floppy disks and 28k dial-up, God willing. Cheers - Bz Actual "Record/LP's" sales have been slowl...

I load samples in Sonar's RXP player, depending on the vibe I'm after, either individual samples or my own REX files, step sequence then edit midi to humanize. Ugh. Typing that makes me reallllly miss my drum machine.

The problem with soft-rompler type stuff to me is that a lot of them sound either too generic, like outdated workstations from the big 3 in the early 90s, or with multi GB kontakt based libraries like colossus, they sound like sampled instruments, and lack that certain glossy rompler type quality if...

I wouldn't touch the sample based stuff, I find there to be much better material out there personally.

But the synths, my god the synths.

2 of the 4 softs I couldn't live without.

synths + laptop + FX -> Alesis Multimix 12FX -> Echo Layla -> desktop PC. That's a hellacious chain ! Voice by voice approach here. I just fire it through preamp -> interface -> DAW I sequence my midi data in Sonar (which I'm not a huge fan of midi-wise, but I don't want to learn a new program ) an...

I agree on the LAME VBR 320 - 128 minimum. But personally, I can't stand to hear anything less than 256. Just exaggerated in a lot of the wrong places IMO. For most of us, MP3s are a necessary evil nowadays. It really can be annoying to spend so much time on a mix and then having it heard by most of...

Track 29

Had the afternoon off and made this. Just a little all software exercise. So I made a simple tune. http://www.zshare.net/audio/1427633384b9022c/ Tracked in Sonar 6 Drums = drums overkill Sine Glitch / Bassline = Nexus Rhythm synth , Fx/Noises, Pads = Pentagon Guitar-like lead = Pentagon via Guitar R...

My friends, please feel stop by to download my full album !

I've been working on this one as labor of love on & off the past 2 years and I'm doing this for a sense of closure to the endless tweakage so I can devote more energy to my vocal record. It's a sound collage album along the lines of the avalanches & bent. IE massive amounts of samples & original pro...
