Akai VX600 factory presets?

A friend of mine accidentally lost the factory presets when changing the internal battery. He's not a synth expert at all and he didn't know he could dump them into a pc for backup. (His patches were largely based on the original presets, so that's not a big loss) I've looked all over the internet b...

Re: Haas Effect

Nice thoughts. Be aware if your music is going to be aired, however small the radio station might be, that most broadcast processors/finalizers don't like minute differences between channels. They usually interpret that as out-of-phase audio and correct it automatically by inverting one of the chann...

What's making this sound?

It's the metallic noise in the loop right at the beginning.

I've heard it dozens of times in different kinds of music, including soundtracks, so it's bound to be a preset, possibly from a drum machine.

Any hints?

Re: Blofeld in Black??!!

I beg to differ. Perhaps I'm too deeply attached to my Blofeld to accept a cosmetic change so far in our relationship. Now it looks like a w***e in w***e's clothing.

Orange on black screams Odyssey/2600. Those were classy sluts.

Ugh. The light grey rectangle surrounding the screen kind of hurts.

Re: Elektron Octatrack!

Has everybody received their units? My payment was completed on Monday morning and still no sign of shipping. They claim to ship the very same day they get the cash. I guess there's a big demand on this thing and some delay is expected... Not worried, just a bit curious.

Re: Elektron Octatrack!

Videos from the first users have renewed my interest in the OT. Ordered one today. I hope that the 'looper' software update, whenever it is released, will live up to the overall quality. This single machine may turn redundant three different pieces of hardware in my current setup.

Re: any digital synth with a random button?

Another option is to randomize externally any synth you already own with a box that can generate random MIDI messages, including sysex if possible.
If you can be bothered to program, something along the lines of Ruin'n'Wesen MiniCommand might be of your interest.

Re: Elektron Octatrack!

It's quite amazing that no-one, let alone Elektron themselves, has come up with a decent demo video. Loops repeating ad nauseam, lots of knobbing with no audible effect, MnM+MD+Octatrack settings so you can't tell what's doing what, no sampling from scratch... I had been extremely tempted to part wi...

Ugh. The trimming continues. I don't enter the forums too often but, wasn't the usual procedure to lock a thread/ban people that went too far? I've seen much harsher shitstorms and product bashing here that didn't necessarily cause the removal a whole thread. Just my 0.02$

Has this thread been trimmed? I recall it was 4+ pages yesterday.

Re: Fresh ideas on beginning a project...

Questioning your methods is a first step. As long as you don't strive for efficiency and immediate results, you can try lots of alternative approaches. Avoid ruts. Start with the atmospheres, leave the bass for the final stages. Leave things out. Mute tracks, add new tracks while listening to just o...
