Re: Identify Another Jam & Lewis Sound?
That is 1/2 of the "Digital Native Dance" preset from the Roland D-50. Just the "scraping metal" PCM sound without the breathy crescendo and the silly loop. The sound was used constantly in Janet Jackson tracks, specifically in 'Miss You Much' right at 3:38 when the music drops out and she speaks an...

Re: DHL to the ship synths ?.
I LOVED using DHL back when they offered domestic service within the US, but they quit that about 12 years ago. It really doesn't matter who the carrier is, it's going to get handled A LOT from point A to point B. What IS IMPORTANT is proper packing. At least 3" of void fill between the item and the...

Re: Help needed for first synth
Roland JD-Xi with the updated firmware that includes the Interactive Chord feature is what you want. They are $500 USD new and you can find them used all the time for around $350 USD. The JD-Xi is the centerpiece of my live rig. I program the backing tracks on it and play live parts on other synths....

Korg DW-8000 - Version E (Expanded)
So I just learned that there were some DW-8000 synths sold in Germany called Version E or Expanded, which added external audio input to the synth's Digital Delay, 16 additional waveforms and 64 additional patch memory locations. Does anyone know how to add this modification to "non-E" DW-8000s? I di...

Always look at SOLD listings on eBay and Reverb.com to see what current market value is.
People always ask silly amount of money for gear, but doesn't always sell.

Re: Trying to find the synth used
ologize for in advance) the sound I'm looking for is the sound in the song that gives it's general melody, and sounds that appear often in similar synth pop tracks of the time, with the Back to the Future aesthetic, I do not hear any melodic synth parts. For melody, there's the vocal and the guitar...
Re: sound
Sounds like a sample of a distorted guitar power chord.

Re: Affordable Vintage Synth with Arpeggiator?
You might be lucky to find a Korg DW-8000 for under $300, though their prices are rising lately. Pretty much everything 80s is rising. The Roland U-20 is a digital "ROMpler" with lots of decent "bread-and-butter" sounds and has an arpeggiator. Can't really edit the sounds much besides AMP attack and...

Re: Hardware Synth prices and VSTs.
Ugh, here we go again. I guess the OP grew up with VSTs. I grew up with hardware. Hardware was EXPENSIVE in the 80s & 90s. $500 didn't get you squat back then and adjusted for inflation, $500 back then is like a grand today. Today, for $500, you've got your pick of TONS of high quality electronic in...

Re: The 2600
Supply versus demand.
There are other options: TTSH & Behringer 2600. I'll probably get the latter - all their other synths have been very faithful to the originals.
