Just to clarify spending half hour at your local dealer playing with a Machinedrum will not do it any justice. Try a month, also don't judge it on the presets. I have a Machinedrum and recently sold an MPC3000LE. If I were doing Hip Hop I think I'd go for an MPC. I brought the MPC to do Soulful House and it's great for live sounding yet tight drums. Since I've started getting more into Techno / Minimal House I was using the MPC less and less so sold it and...

If that was the case wouldn't the bottom of the waveform have that flat as well??

I don't think that is the problem but thanks for the reply.

It's as if one side is slightly louder, but I don't know why. I'm getting confused to be honest as I thought mono meant it only has one side

Got a bit of a problem, Today when recording my 909 into logic I noticed that when recording the bass drum on to a mono channel that the top part of the waveform (when I zoomed out) looked almost horizontal as if just the top had been compressed.
