Re: Anyone used an Alesis Sample Rack as a Phrase Sampler/Playback Sampler?
Thanks guys! @Salwa - I haven't tried a SP-404, although I have had an SP-505, and it felt a bit too overcomplicated to achieve relatively simple results when I tried to control it externally - partially because I got caught up with unwanted sequencer triggering when my main sequencer sent a "Start...

Re: Anyone used an Alesis Sample Rack as a Phrase Sampler/Playback Sampler?
I know it's not answer to your question, but have you tried Roland Sp 404? It streams samples from card, so card is the limit. As for MIDI implementation - it depends on what you are trying to achieve, every sample location is tied to one note, playing that note on attached keyboard or sequencer fir...

Re: Kawai Q-80 (Q80) Archive & Repository
An update - I bought encoder (it was actually harder than I thought - most of them didn't have screw thread) and fitted it inside. I have ordered Alps encoder also, but I needed new one badly (for rehersal - the old one deteriorated quickly, it was last call actually), so I bought this Chinese nonam...

Re: Kawai Q-80 (Q80) Archive & Repository
Wow, I didn't expect that - thanks for your help again. Here it is in all its skipping glory: http://i63.tinypic.com/2h6a520.jpg It's Alps 331A. Here are my measurements (unfortunately I don't have callipers, so there may be 0,5 mm uncertainity, but I hope encoders are standarized): Diameter of base...

Re: Kawai Q-80 (Q80) Archive & Repository
Wow! Thumbs up, man! Glad you saw it through and that my guesswork happened to lead to a bulls-eye ;) I'm sure some research would yield a perfect fit, but we'll consider it a win. Yes, you're probably right, but I was a bit overwhelmed by variety of models. Well, thanks again. Next goal for me - t...

Re: Kawai Q-80 (Q80) Archive & Repository
So, it's time to update. I've bought a new LCD (datasheet is here ) and got to work. Originally I was planning to do as little soldering as possible (due to my shaking hands; also I'm lazy), especially desoldering cables from original LCD. I've decided to buy 14 pin female connector and solder it to...

Little update - mounting holes on display PCB are 71 x 36 mm. Now follow that link in my last post in this thread. Toward the bottom are the Specifications. Compare to the size measured of your display. Hint Outline Dimension - 84.0(Width) x 44.0(Height) x 13.3(Thickness) Visual Area - 60.80 x 16.9...

Re: Kawai Q-80 (Q80) Archive & Repository
I dismantled my Q-80EX today, but the display PCB is hold by four screws and six little bended pieces of metal. Unfortunately, the top middle is soldered to the green wire and could not be bend. I'm not that good in soldering to try to remove the wire, as I'm afraid to mess something seriously up (...

Re: Kawai Q-80 (Q80) Archive & Repository
Does anyone replaced LCD in Q-80EX? Mine has rather burned out display. I haven't specifically done this, but I suspect no one else has, so I'm going to take a blind stab at it anyway. If you can take some pictures and measurements of the display board in your Q-80EX then we might be able to confir...

Cisowa-Wrzeszcz
I started new project with my friend - noisy (but not too much) electronics. This is our first album called "Krajobraz zniknął" ("The landscape has disappeared"). Enjoy!
