Re: What are some Moog Prodigy pros and cons
sounds *great*, but not as robust as something like a Pro One. you can retrofit CV/gate in early models, no worries.
i highly recommend it.

Re: Steve needs a modular synth?
Whats with the doepfer stuff. Is it just simpler because of the ribbon cable connectors or something. Ive been checkin out all the other sites that have modular stuff and DIY modulars and I really like the classic black faceplate stuff better. ....a whole lot better. So why are the doepfers the mos...

Re: La Roux's "Bulletproof" (What synths?)
not really an answer to the OP, but it looks like they'll be gravitating towards older hardware:
Elenor Jackson: “We’ve got a Roland- a Juno, a Yamaha DX7, a Nova, a Korg, a Moog… Me and Ben just go on eBay and say ‘buy it buy it!’ We’ve got a living room piled up with synths.”

Re: first moog synth...
i'd go for the Prodigy any day. i own 2 Model D minimoogs, i think the sound of the Prodigy is pretty much spot-on with those. i also prefer the Prodigy to my Pro One.

Re: volume control on modular patch cable
you can always buy something like a minicase on the cheap for a couple utility modules.

yep- if you look closely on that pic it says "Buchla & Associates" on the bottom of the modules.highvoltage wrote:Woa, this thing looks damn fine! What is it? A Buchla?

Re: volume control on modular patch cable
What im trying to get to, is that there are modular/ semimodular synths that doesnt have atteunators or adjustable levels for control voltages. it's modular. just add a module to process control voltages. this is what i use. it's a lot more exotic than simple attenuators but serves that function we...

Re: Jupiter 6 Europa?
Is it worth it to upgrade my Jupiter 6 with the Europa mod, if I am currently running OS X? From what I've read on Synthcoms website, it appears I wouldn't be able to tap into the benefits of the upgrade unless I had a dedicated old mac running OS 9 to edit the parameters on... Please someone prove...

Re: Minimoog keytops have play in them...
Yeah, I had actually asked Kevin Lightner of Synthfool this same question and he pretty much said exactly that. In fact, in the beginning of the year I actually had to order some bell caps from him (which he was low in stock of) because whoever replaced the bushings the first time around lost two o...

Re: Xpander Vs SunSyn vs ???
i'd say the Xpander is extremely reliable. in my experience most problems you get with older synthesizers revolve around contacts- keys, pots & connectors- or power supply failures due to old capacitors. i haven't had a single problem with mine since in the several years i've owned it- it's a solid ...
