Re: favorite instrument combinations

Oberheim Matrix 6 + Korg MS-10 through Kaoss Pad. Simple, but effective.

Re: Low-cost dirty digital synthesizer

Another vote for the Kawai K-1 and the Casio CZ line, if cheap and dirty is what you´re looking for.

Re: Old casiotones/What is it that plastic coated metal can't do

I have a 601, all wood and metal, nothing plastic on the 601. It has awesome organ sounds, some cool rythms and useful fingered chord and memory functions for the auto accompaniment. Every sound sounds the same, with different envelopes and slightly different filtering, but yet the same sound (not a...

Re: Which synthesizer(s) do you regret getting or selling

This might sound odd, but I regret:
selling: Yamaha Qy-70.
getting: Roland MC-909.

Re: Whats beyond the DX7?

If you want to stick to Yamaha, you should go with the FS1r, or if you like it vintage, the TX802 (great synth), but a cool option, IMHO, is a nord modular. I have both the TX802, which sounds awesome, and a NM, that doesn´t sound exactly as the TX802, but is waaay more flexible. I remember seeing a...

Re: Rarest Synths

As soon as I saw this topic, I thought of my Hammond 102200, but no one mentioned it, though.

Re: I need help! for my sp 12

I actually bought mine a few years ago at a very low price because the previous owner thought it was broken because it did all those strange sounds instead of the normal ones, and it didn´t save any pattern. When i got it home, I changed the battery and it was working like new, so probably that woul...

Re: I need help! for my sp 12

It could be the internal battery. My SP12 did a similar thing a while ago, I replaced the battery and it was functioning normally again. It´s not hard to do, even with little skills in soldering, like me.

From David Crombie´s "The Complete Synthesizer" (1984): "White noise is therefore a useful tool in the more horrifying business of sensory deprivation. The synthesizer is the only instrument whose playing could literally be described as torturous."

If you´re willing to do some extensive programming, you should consider the Oberheim Matrix 6. You can do every kind of strange, evolving drones and noises, for example, using FM and the modulation matrix, where you can acomplish some weird modulations. If you spend a lot of time with this synth, yo...

I have to agree with the ones that use the Korg MS2000 for sequences. I find the combination 3 sequences+modulation matrix+delay+phaser+distortion quite useful. You can get very expressive sequences, changing every parameter you want in real time. Usually I use one slow LFO to modulate cutoff freque...
