Re: Battery leakage in any synth with patch memory?

I see here that this Alesis A6 main board has a battery in the lower left corner. A6 Mainboard and uses a 3 prong lithium battery, likely soldered in. Battery I saw nothing like that in my G2 so I'm wondering if it has an unusual style of battery that I wouldn't recognize. Maybe it has some type of ...

Re: Battery leakage in any synth with patch memory?

Thanks for the replies. Do you happen to know what year manufacturers switched to lithium batteries? And are most batteries soldered to the pcb or do they have a socket? I was thinking in the case of a battery socket, it might be wise to relocate the battery socket away from the pcb in case it did l...

Battery leakage in any synth with patch memory?

I was told that any synth with patch memory (analog or digital), contains a battery that will eventually rupture, leak over the pcb and ruin the synth. Is this true? I just opened up a Nord G2 looking for a button cell type battery and I didn't see one. If it is true, is there any preventative maint...

Ha! I just noticed that the power cable is damaged. One of the two wires is completely split in half. That's two boards in a row that didn't work when I got them. I had dead keys on my Fusion when I got it. BAHBAHBAHBULLSHIT!!!!!!!!

Virus TI problems

I just got my Virus TI unpacked a few minutes ago. When I plug in the power cable and press and hold the transpose buttons nothing happens. I can hear a slight pop sound in my headphones when I plug in the power cable like something is getting some power but the damn thing won't turn on. WTF!!!!!!!!...

I'm making payments on a Virus TI 61. I should have it in a couple weeks, and I got it cheap too. But is silicon tasty?

What's cool though is when someone's had a synth for 5, 10, or 20 years and still can't keep their hands off it. I probably will with my Ion. We've been through a lot together, and although my Ion is resting under a towel on the top tier of my Apex stand... disconnected, I still like it much ...

 When I bought my Ion 3 years ago, it was my first non-ROMpler synth. It took a while to get used to, but I fell in love with it as soon as I took it out of it's box. I just got a Fusion a few weeks ago and while it has a lot more capabilities than the Ion, I find it's nowhere near as tweakable...

You know I've always heard that Germans were renowned for their efficiency... well I work for a German company and it's not too efficient. Always shorthanded, always late on production quotas. I have to operate a machine that requires 4 people to run, by myself... everyday. And when anyone is free t...

Damn, I want my Q+ PE so bad. I just hope my money helps with the development of the Stromberg cause I want one of those too. I think the Q+, Fusion, Andromeda and Virus TI will tide me over until the Stromberg is released.

Found a few more bands today with a "synth" player (rocking the mk on a huge-ass stand again). I used to have my mk on an Ultimate Apex stand but I also had an Ion on the lower tier. It didn't really look that ridiculous. You should post some links to some of these pics if you haven't already. Mayb...
