on the sh101 its pretty good for randomly modulating the cutoff if youre using the arpeggiator (that is, they'll both retrigger at the same time, so it sounds like each note has a slightly different cutoff) so, for syncing it with a sequencer its kind of cool, otherwise yeah it's usually pretty chee...

Hey .... so first: yes I did RTFM but yet I'm still stumped on this one: How to send an audio signal through the Efx version of the plugin? I use the "In" which is on the same row as the modulation ins, but I can't seem to get anything coming through. Also, I thought the VCA needed to be open, so I ...

I was actually expecting to hear something about the encoders breaking. I've played with them a bit at a local music store and they seemed on the fragile side.

But yeah, I've had shipments from UPS that arrived looking like they were dropped from the plane onto my driveway

Question about prophet 08's

So, they use a CEM VCF chip, right? Aren't they out-of production?

You forgot brackets, other hardware, the "special parts" kits, knobs, jacks, etc. You actually don't save much. I looked at building a 480 filter and it was going to cost me around $300 (buying most parts from Synthtech), versus $399 assembled. Then again, I might see the kit in 2007, where the ass...

How about comparing the time used in a DIY approach with the money you have to spend to learn the skills? It's simple and anyone can do it if they aren't a clumsy dope. All you need is the motivation to do it and a very small investment in tools. +1 for that. With very little electronics experience...

Re: DIY synths and ethics

Yeah ... consider the free software world: the success of the GNU free software license is based largely on allowing commercial resellers make money from packaged distributions ... and there's a lot to be said dollar-wise for the packaged distribution convienence. A similar arrangement in the hardwa...

EDIT: actually, after RTFM a bit for aftertouch, it says it's there but I don't see it as a mod matrix source (unless its not clearly named)? from quickly browsing i can't see how you'd link it to say filter cutoff. Any help, please, anyone? :o Aftertouch is there as a modulation source. It's calle...

Yeah I have a C myself ... I'm personally not especially lusting for a TI. Sure, some nice upgrades have been made but I'm still quite content with my C for the time being. Still, it kind of sucks that they haven't had a new OS for the C since, what 03?? I would like to see more flexability added to...

What's a good rackmountable 16/chan (or more) USB mixer

So, looking to replace my crappy a*s behringer (shudder) mixer with a Firewire or USB dealie. I'm looking at the Yamaha MG166CX-USB (or probably, the 20-input MG206C-USB, 3x FX sends is highly desirable). What's the best I might be able to find in that capacity range? Preferrably a rackmountable mix...

Damn, I was watching an Xpander auction on ebay, one of the voices had a busted CV circuit (maybe needed a new CEM 3340?), it STILL went for $1,600!!

f**k h**l :o
