Re: Emax Slider Pots
You should be able to find a replacement but you might also be able to clean it up and get it working like new again, this often requires de-soldering and disassembling the pot though because what often happens is debris gets stuck under the tines which can absorb moisture and eventually rust the ti...

Re: Roland TR-808 Issue
Some 808's will lose the first pattern due to a power spike when the on/off button is pressed due to the power cable being too close to the mode selector switch.....try moving the mode selector switch to something which doesn't zap the memory when you power off or on to determine if that could be th...

Re: Alesis SR 18...is it worth it for Electro?
An SR-18 is like an over engineered metronome for guitarists to jam along with. A sampler is the best drum machine for electronic music.

Re: Help a noob get his band midi sync'ed
I think I read somewhere that the Korg KP3 can do beat detection (audio to MIDI) and if the KP3 works as well as my RedSound Voyager, it would probably get the job done.

Re: Triple Six Mafia / DJ Paul / Juicy J Sampler Questions
Back in the 90's we used to mess with speeds all the time, the first time I heard DJ Screw I assumed he was planing to mix at low speed and then bring up the play back speed after he recorded it but liked the way it sounded so kept it slow (that's not a fact BTW, just an assumption), as for the samp...

Re: Akai's s900 or s2000
I have the ESI4000, S2000 and S950. Sonic differences aside the ESI4000 has twice the polyphony, stock outputs and memory expansion capacity of the S2000 and you don't have to boot it from a floppy disk, I don't think the external control capabilities of the ESI4000 is as good as the S2000 but that'...

Re: Old floppy sampler utilities and Windows 7
I keep an old Windows 98 PC handy for such things, but if I had to I would just boot the computer with DOS from the USB floppy drive or if possible (depends on hardware backwards compatibility) set up a dual boot system with Windows 98.

Re: click death
Although they are temperamental, ZIP drives/disks can last a long time when care is taken. There is a program called TIP (Trouble In Paradise) that can check ZIP disks/drives for errors and the click of death. Some people mistakenly try to format ZIP drives as though they are hard drives with a step...

Re: Problems with Novation D-Station
Good idea, there is the possibility the first guy did not check properly and it might be a good idea to write down some basic instructions so the next technician has some reference that points him in the right direction so he can check out the switching matrix.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Problems with Novation D-Station
You should be able to edit the D-station via MIDI without even touching the front of it if you have to.

Re: Problems with Novation D-Station
If you select Utility and do not press the + or - buttons but instead just move the sliding selector switch in the toms section does the display change or does it stay on t1?
If it stays on t1 and does not change to t2 or t3 when you move it, the switch itself could be faulty.

Re: Problems with Novation D-Station
The Operating System is not flash upgradable so there is no sysex file, there is also no factory reset procedure. That funny trick with the congas probably has to do with that section being 808 only, if you have a 909 kit selected and bring up Congas, Maracas or Claves the D-Station will switch to t...

A mod grip on a battery powered SH-101 and black leather pants on public transport FTW.
