Re: Prophet 600 droning
Did you check cables and connections between the boards yet? I had a problem with my P600 where none of the switches or pots worked. The keyboard and membrane keypad worked fine, I just couldn't change the sounds. In my case it turned out to be a problem with J304, the connection between the left co...

Re: Fixing a broken JX-3P
Thanks a lot for chiming in mr. T! Yes, I took the panel board out and checked it under a magnifying lamp. Even did a bit of continuity testing. I'm fairly confident that the board, its copper traces and solder joints are fine. I'm more focused on the main board which is where both the digital circu...

Re: Fixing a broken JX-3P
Did a thorough inspection of the panel board today and didn't find any broken traces. The board is clean and appears to be in very, very good condition. I'm thinking that whatever caused the minor dents in the case isn't the reason why this JX-3P is broken. I've concluded for the moment that the the...

Re: Fixing a broken JX-3P
Thanks, Rhino.
I spent an hour googling JX-3P issues earlier today. It seems cracked traces on the panel board is a relatively common problem. There's a couple of small dents on the panel/case of this JX-3P, so I'll definitely do a closer inspection of the panel board.

Fixing a broken JX-3P
Hi. I'm trying to troubleshoot and fix a non-working JX-3P for a colleague. Right now I'm at the point where I'm moving into guesswork territory, so I'd be very thankful for some input before I start randomly replacing transistors and ICs. Any input. Qualified or not. Here's what I've found so...

Re: Picking a lesser used but interesting synth...

How about one of the Quasimidi boards like Sirius or Raven?
Definitely quirky and not sounding quite like anything else, no large fanbase, atypical workflow.

Re: blofeld KB octave buttons
OS v1.10 is old. The non-functional octave button bug is known and has been fixed in later OS versions.

 Sell both and use some of the profits to take an evening cooking class or something. You'll learn a valuable skill that'll impress the ladies (and everyone else) way more than any old analog will and at the same time get a chance to be among other people in a setting that isn't as horrify...

Take a long walk. Drink some beers with a friend. Talk to your significant other/friend who happens to be of the opposite sex/some random person of the opposite sex. Call your mom/dad/sister/brother/grandparent... Basically do something that involves other people and has nothing to do with synthesiz...

I think both John Bowen with his Solaris and Jorg Schaaf/Radikal Technologies with the Accelerator are trying very hard.meatballfulton wrote:I'll argue that the pro-level hardware VA is an endangered species. Nord and Access have the remaining market sewn up and noone else wants to try to compete.

Great! Can't really elaborate, I just thoroughly enjoyed that.
Things like the bass guitar harmonics are really refreshing to my ears. So, please don't go fully electronic 100% of the time.

Re: This... made with my newly resurrected Prophet 600
Thanks! A lot a the character of the 0:23 patch comes from processing. Here's a demo of how I treated the sound in four steps; - 0:00 dry sound from P600 - 0:20 EQ'ing out frequencies below about 500Hz, and raising a small amount at 6.3kHz - 0:40 adding overdrive - 1:00 dubbing same sound with sligh...
