Pedal Steel Guitar on Synths
Does anyone know how to make a Pedal Steel Guitar patch? It's the sound that you've heard in every country ballad ever made. It would be so cool to make it on a synth...

Re: Amplifying synths for recording and/or reamping
Yeah....listen to "Village Ghetto Land" by Stevie Wonder and you'll realize why miking synths is so useful....

Re: Hungry Like the Wolf Ending Pad
Oh, also, it seems like a chorus effect was used on Simon Le Bon's vocals all over the record (and was subsequently used on Limahl's all over White Feathers). Does anyone know what chorus effect unit that was?

Re: Hungry Like the Wolf Ending Pad
I wonder if any of those virtual string synths sound good...
Can I make this sound on my Prophet '08? I think it only has LPF.
Anyway, it definitely is not not true that it was used on every one of Duran's singles from 1981-1984 haha.

How much did you buy yours for Joey, just out of curiosity?

Re: Nord Lead 3 opinions ?
But, Joey, you know that the 3 works well in a mix. You can't deny that you can quickly create a sound when you need to record immediately.
Let me know what you think.

Re: Nord Lead 3 opinions ?
I'm not kidding. Obviously, the 3 isn't the best sounding synth out there, but it's extremely easy to program when you need a very specific sound very fast (when recording) and it fits well in a mix with a little FX. I love mine.

Re: Nord Lead 3 opinions ?
The UI of the Nord Lead 3 is so good that it destroys any sonic arguments. Compared to other VAs, in a mix, it isn't going to make that much of a difference (especially with a good digital delay and a hint of verb).

Re: Amplifying synths for recording and/or reamping
Otto - I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Bruce Swedien used it to great effect on Thriller . I believe he used really, really nice mics and re-amped the studio monitors, though...then blended it with the line signal. What this does is add early reflections (natural reverb) to the sound. Unle...

Hungry Like the Wolf Ending Pad
You know the pad at the end of Hungry Like the Wolf? It comes in at 2:44. It's mixed very subtly and I think it's in mono, but I've never heard anything like it before. Anyone know what synth or string machine that's coming from? Also, does anyone know how it was made (filter/oscillator settings, et...

Or, rather, does anyone have any alternatives that they recommend?
I'm just looking for a great, distinctive way to process sounds.

AMS 16 Delay
I am looking to pick up an AM6 16 Delay...or perhaps an AMS Reverb for use on synths and possibly drums...and vox as well. Has anyone used one or does anyone have a good example of one being used? I just think it could add a lot of character to my mixes.
