Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...

This whole thread (or blog) is incredibly interesting! Even for me, a non-electrical person who is all thumbs with a slobbering iron. It is great to know that there are dedicated people out there to perform this type of resurrection, and a whole group of kindred souls that are willing to help with e...

Re: Geoff Downes 1980s Keyboard rig

http://kumanomix.cocolog-nifty.com/kumanomix/images/Asia.jpg And I thought Rick Wakeman used a lot of Keyboards on stage at once :o I can spot a Mellotron, a Fairlight, two Minimoogs, a Polymoog, Fender Rhodes, Yamaha CP, and thats about it. In this video he seems to be using even more keyboards. I...

Re: Micromoog appreciation thread

so heres a demo of my 85% functional micromoog. ive notice that the 'modulation input' presumably for a pedal is just a tad bit smaller than a 1/4in jack. are all moog exp pedals slightly smaller jacks? i dont have mine on hand to test. It is actually a 3/16" stereo jack that allows the LFO to cont...

Re: Micromoog appreciation thread

I had one, but had to sell it off last year to pay off some bills. I have owned other vintage Moogs, and the Micro was the most fun to play, and It was great at experimental and drone sounds, in addition to the Moog bass (great with the sub octave!) and lead sounds. What someone really needs to make...

Re: Running external signals through a synthesizer...

The biggest problem with using the external input is that you normally cannot trigger the envelope generators, so the VCA cannot be opened, so there is no sound unless you trigger the synth via the keyboard or a sequencer. The Micromoog is more versatile than most older analog synths for running an ...

Re: WTF? NEW CRUMAR Bassman Pedals!

Price is way too high, especially when you can get a used Taurus 3 for $1,600 to $1,700, there is nothing built in for foot control, and a sequencer doesn't make much sense for something that you play with your feet. This would have been ideal as a "Taurus II" type of unit, where the brains were sep...

Re: question about guitar trackers

Have you tried the Mooger Fooger pedals? The MF 1O1 filter, MF 1O2 Ringmod, or MF 107 Freq box can give you synthy type of sounds, and the MF 1O5 Murf gives motion to the sound that makes it sound like an arppegio or melody. The Moog Cp 251 gives you greater control over these pedals as well.

Re: Mopho vs Micron vs DE vs Kraftzwerg

Thank you for the response! It does help! My eventual goal is to rebuild the modular, but due to funds and time, that may be a year or two down the road. I presently have enough funds for the MOPHO or the Micron. I have had a chance to try a Micron, but I have not had a chance to try out the MOPHO o...

Mopho vs Micron vs DE vs Kraftzwerg

Okay, I am looking for a sound source. I primarily play the bass guitar, and I have a Sonus Bass to MIDI converter. I also have an MFB Step 64 Sequencer (MIDI/CV Sequencer), and a Yamaha KX25 keyboard controller, and I may get a MIDI bass pedal controller as well. I had a complete modular system, wh...

Re: Micromoog / Moogerfoogers

Synthesizers.com has a rackmount frame, which can mount 8 module spaces in a standard rackmount enclosure, as well as an inexpensive "wall wart" power supply for up to 8 modules. Using these could make a great small setup for interfacing with the Micromoog.

Re: Micromoog / Moogerfoogers

Im personally either going to start building a modular around my micro or if modusonics gets up and running again (I know a lot of people have problems with him right now but I don't want to get in to that and give him the benefit of the doubt) id really like to get the dvco ! Have you thought abou...

Re: Modular Synthesizers ?

I researched this quite a bit as well, looking at Euro, Frac, and 5U. I was on a budget and the biggest hurdle to ownership is the case/power supply combo. Dotcom actually shows you how to build a decent looking DIY cabinet that you can use for Dotcom or MOTM format modules. I settled on 5U because ...

Re: I just pre-ordered Korg DS-10 PLUS

Wow, I just saw the cartridge at a Best Buy store for $29.99, and they had about 4 or 5 of them on the shelf! I do not have a Nintendo DS Series unit, or I would have snatched up the cartridge. I travel often enough to make me want to look at this as a fun/composition tool while I am on the plane or...
