Re: Modding the New ARP Odyssey

I just picked up an Odyssey and I really like it so far. I'd be interested in hearing about any other potential mods. Specifically, I wonder if it would be possible to retrofit it with a new keybed, one that has proper MIDI DIN out and at least a pitch bend control that sends MIDI. I'm imagining som...

Re: Prophet 6

Dave Smith said the signal path is "100% analog." So I don't think the EG(s) and LFOs will be digital at all. "Signal path" should mean VCO, VCF, VCA. An envelope is a control signal, it isn't part of the audio path, so it wouldn't surprise me if they are digital and he still said "full analog sign...

Re: Prophet 6

Please please someone tell me this beast is velocity sensitive Take a look at the pics on the DSI site. In the AMP ENV section there is a VELOCITY button that ties into the ENV AMT control. So it appears that basic velocity control over volume is available. There are also VELOCITY buttons for each ...

Re: Prophet 6

No, see, phase two of the plan is to keep her happy so that never happens. I've got it all figured out! ;) After marriage there is always an intermediate phase called "Let's buy a house to satisfy my nesting instinct", during which this question is inevitably asked: "You don't need to keep ALL of t...

I'm betting this thing will be far more popular than that. I'm absolutely, definitely buying one.

Re: Prophet 6

I was thinking this might totally obsolete the Prophet 08 until I noticed..only two EGs, one LFO, sequencer sounds like notes only and PolyMod is not as flexible as four free mod slots. So the two are very, very different in terms of modulation options. Yes, very different specs, so I'm sure there ...

Re: Prophet 6

I'm not exactly thrilled at the news of YET ANOTHER 2vco analog recreation from the past. I guess it's fine for musicians who owned one 30 years ago and miss theirs. Don't get too hung up on the "recreation" aspect of it. Dave's new discrete filter section sounds so sweet, and I welcome any polysyn...

Re: Full Size Keyless MS20 with Sequencer at NAMM

$9999, I don't think so! Ridiculous price. The original was meant to be fairly affordable, this is just a rip off. Do you guys actually think this will be $10,000 when the keyboard kit is $1,400? Come on. I'm sure that's just a placeholder used by that website when they don't know the actual price.

That's my guess too. I wouldn't be disappointed, I think that would be cool even though I'll probably never start a 5u system.

Re: HUGE MOOG MUSIC NEWS COMING MONDAY!!!

This is "some of the biggest news in Moog history?" I don't know who "Humbucker Music" is, and apparently they don't know who any of you are, either. They are an online retailer of mostly guitars/amps, and they also sell Moog. But a search would have told you that. They like to carry "special editi...

Yeah, all I'm saying is that it is relative.
$1,700 for 3U of modules is the far low end of the price spectrum in the modular world. :)
PAIA and MFB are cheaper compared to most anything analog.

isn't nearly as flexible as a paia 9700s You're talking about one of these? http://www.paia.com/prodimages/9700s-side-kit-hi.jpg If so, I think you need to look at the Pittsburgh offering a little more closely. Anyway, modulars aren't cheap, that's for sure. Just try to put your own Euro system tog...

Re: Winter NAMM 2012

I have Pittsburgh's oscillator and mixer - great modules. The new filter demos sound nice too. Highly recommended and they are priced very reasonably considering the speed at which some Eurorack users will drop $500-$600 on a single module without blinking.
