Re: TB-303 use in pop/rock music?
This weird french band called "End of Data" used it for bass lines along with a TR-606 for drums on their first LP from 1984. Both are even pictured in the sleeve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJm_713f3w0 https://img.discogs.com/1-EVQkL7zTUWtL2juQXwkm4S5mc=/fit-in/600x594/filters:strip_icc():form...

Re: Korg Minilogue Polyphonic Analog Synth
The question is: why to make a 4 voice analog synth which costs 600 eur if it is obviously possible to make a VA synth which sounds better and has more voices for similar price or just a bit more. Think Korg MS2000, Alesis Ion, Novation Mininova,... Because Korg already have. In fact, the King Korg...

Re: Korg Minilogue Polyphonic Analog Synth
I love this blurb on Sweetwater's site: Due to the astounding popularity of this spectacular new analog synth, the first shipment that we received from Korg is already completely sold out. Without a doubt, there will be continued high demand for the minilogue, so please don't hesitate to place your...

Re: Why is the CZ101 not considered a classic?
It's just that one Organ sound featured in so many tracks in the 90s alongside the M1 Piano/Organ. In fact the M1/CZ101/909 were all perfect bedfellows in commercial dance music of the time. Back in the day I even bought an old school sample CD that had the 'dirty organ' (as it was so affectionatel...

Re: Alpha Juno weird artifacts when playing chords?
I've heard this also on my MKS 50. I believe it's internal distortion, possibly overdriving the chorus as mentioned - I think I remember fixing it once by turning the osc volume down. The Juno-60 does this as well, especially with the chorus on. Simply turning the osc volume down a bit stops it fro...

Re: Looking for the right Synth (LoFi /Experimental) // 500-
- Roland JP 3000 (Trancey) ... Im just not so much interested in Super Saw and Trance Sounds and its ok if it sounds a little trashy maybe. The JP-8000 being a "trancey" synth is a huge misconception. A lot of people used it for Trance music, but it alone will not produce Trance music. All the pres...

Re: It's time for another Analog Bass Synth
I actually found a TR-606 at a thrift store for $20 not too long ago. It was just sitting in a bin with a bunch of TV remote controls and modems

Re: Songs with Casio or Yamaha keyboards?
Trisomie 21 used a Casio on their first EP "Le Repos Des Enfants Heureux" . While I'm not sure which one exactly, it sounds a lot like the CT-310 I have. There were a handful of the CT keyboard that shared the same drum patterns and accompanying chord sequences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MaEq...

Re: Synth newbie: Owning Multiple DX7's - DX7II vs. DX5
I'm in a similar scenario, only I own a DX100 and DX11. The DX11 blows it away in terms of extra features, extra waveforms, the performance mode, size and even looks, yet I can't seem to part with the DX100. The lower quality DACs does make a difference. Plus the DX100 has more usable preset sounds ...

Re: Korg Might Be Up To Something.
I've tried the MS-20 Kit version in person and the knobs are a major improvement over the Mini version. All of them all feel solid and non-wobbly just like how the Mini's volume knob is.

I had the SH-201 for a few years as well and confirm that those oscillator are indeed real VA and not samples.

Re: Yamaha Reface
I hate AC adapters not because you can lose them but because they have flimsy cables that are always too short. I've seen a number of them fail on a gig so if it's your only instrument you'd better pack a spare adapter. Wall warts are a PITA when you need to plug a few into a single power strip...a...

Re: Yamaha Reface
Are we seriously complaining about break out MIDI cables now? Those cost like $15 to replace and can easily be purchased online. It's no more of a "design flaw" than a synth having detachable power adapter that could get lost. Here's an idea: Don't lose your stuff. My SY99 doesn't have a detachable...

Re: Yamaha Reface
It will probably be cheaper than that in the US. For example, the new Korg Electribe retails for like £315.00 in the UK, yet only $400 in the US.mmp wrote:SonicState has the price at 347 pounds. Thats like $520.00 US unless that includes VAT.
