Re: Clavinet sound
I think a large part what popularized the Clavinet for rock/funk playing is the action. The light bouncy action of a Clavinet really lends itself to a rhythmic playing style. When creating music with it, it's disposition toward staccato (because it has almost no sustain) and rhythmic (because the ac...

A buddy of mine told me about it. I'm loving the doodle, but the lag from my wireless keyboard is driving me nuts!

Re: What was the most expensive Synth you ever bought?
Holy price coup, Batman!!! =D> :D Clavier, I forgot to give you some props on the good deals you got. I am always glad to see people getting synths at good prices. Thanks! Me too. Your gears scores are pretty sweet, so it means a lot coming from you. If you are a key player, I would go for that Rho...

Re: What are the keyboards/synth and drum machine is this vi
Didn't really see very many synths in the video. The organ at the start is either a Hammond B series or an A100; you can't see the bottom of it so it's hard to tell. That thing that looks like a Mellotron -- is it a Memotron? Not any Mellotron model that I recognize. Some of those pieces of the rac...

Re: What was the most expensive Synth you ever bought?
most I've paid was $400 for my Motif 6, but I really don't count that as a synth, so I figure it would have to be my P5, for the equivalent of $350 ($200 cash + plus a busted DX7 and Korg DW6000). The most I've paid for a keyboard, is $600 for my suitcase Rhodes piano. Pics: http://farm4.static.flic...

Current going rate of Rev 3 Prophet-5?
Hey guys, Long time, no post ...but I have continued to play. I'm seriously considering selling my P5 to pay some outstanding bills. (sad) I haven't followed synth prices on Ebay for about 4 years now, so I don't know what the pricing trends have been. I'm not look for top dollar, but I don't want t...

Re: Poll: Who's the best synth manufacturer.
If I had to vote for just one, or could only own synths from one manufacturer, it would be Yamaha. Yamaha has easily made more models of synth that I like than any other company. Also, they have made fewer synths I wasn't fond of than their competitors.

Re: The One(s) That Got Away
Well on the lighter side, I got a good deal a few months ago that "got away" from at least someone else, while on tour with the band we stopped into a pawn shop for the h**l of it in St' John New Brunswick. I was the last one into the shop and I'll never forget the look on my friends face, "Greg th...

Re: I did a little DW8000 demo ^.^
This is good stuff! These DW synths are still quite underrated. I actually was able to acquire my P-5 mostly based on the merits/similarities the DW-6000 had to it. How's that for an endorsement?

Re: Moog Taurus III picture
It would be nice if they would make it so the UI could detach and be used remotely. That way one could set the controls on top of their Rhodes Mk VII and modify the patch while playing and without bending over. ;) Either way, I'm looking forward to when these things start showing up on the used mark...
