Re: Should we all be worried about capacitors in aging sampl

You have a very valid question about the caps. My 21 yr old Ensoniq ASR-10 has been getting a bit wonky when starting it up. It takes a few minutes for the display screen to appear after turning it on. After a 5-hour long disassemble to the bare bones this past weekend, I gave it a deep dusting/clea...

Re: Akai MPC-2000 - getting started

The MPC2000 does read wav files, so if you find any sample packs in that format (16/44), it will read it.

Re: Juno 66 - tubbutec

What a great looking mod! Anybody confident enough to do this themselves? Or should this be done by a pro tech?Though I'm happy with the mods and soldering I did on my Monotribe, this seems like it could be a bit more difficult than that (and not easily replaceable should I screw it up).

Watched Part 1 so far. Enjoyed!

My guess is that Buchla didn't want to take part.

Re: Rant about the lack of modern hardware samplers.

By the way, I still have the ASR 10. It's still at 100%. I could never let it go... I hear ya' man. Had mine since '97. The funny thing is that I still use it for the bulk of my sampling duties. I also think that it actually being a great synthesizer has helped its longevity with me. As for my musi...

Re: Are the old Electribes getting more expensive/respected?

I always had love for the ER-1. I may not sound the best by itself, but when I use it to compliment the drums that I program on the MPC, Watch out Now!

Re: does anyone else feel this way about the DSI MEK

This is one of the reasons I haven't entered the world of true modular. I think I would spend more time doing crazy unusable stuff. Judging from videos and MP3s of many peoples modulars, people spend an awful lot of money to create really shitty sounds. That cracks me up otto. You see these folks w...

Re: Serious Korg DSS-1 Mod!

Dude mods the old Korg sampler to have 16mb of ram, with usb. As much talk that there is about love for old school samplers on this board, I thought this would generate some discussion. Oh well, I liked to have one. There was another thread or two on this previously that did generate a lot of discu...

New DIY 8-bit sampler

You folks heard about this yet: http://www.narrat1ve.com/copDat.html http://narrat1ve.com/ If you hate modern samplers with all their supposed fidelity, longing instead for the glitchy digital distortion of samplers past, a DIY project has brought you the sounds you love. “Where’s the Party At?” has...
