Re: What is close to ARP PRO SOLOIST sounds.
The Behringer Deepmind 6 could make a good modern substitute for a Pro Soloist. It has the same key-range and aftertouch. There is more than enough synth power to emulate Pro Soloist-type sounds.

You might want to Include a Hohner Pianet N VST. https://www.modartt.com/hohner_collection . This collection also includes the extremely rare Hohner Electra-Piano which was prominently used by Led Zeppelin on some of their best-known recordings. There is also this collection which is strictly Pianet...

Re: New Sequential Prophet-5 Rev. 4
Time to think about selling my P5 rev. 2 and getting the P10. The operating system is so antiquated on the original rev. 2. It would have been nice to update a few more functions in the new models but it seems to be faithful to the original for the most part. Keyboard Tracking is now Off/Half/Full r...

Re: Eddie Van Halen is Dead
Things might have been different if Eddie's Prophet 10 had worked properly. He wrote "Jump" on the Prophet but had a problem with it and also with the replacement P10 he purchased. A friend suggested he get an OBXa and the rest is history.

Re: 70s Style Analog Chorus Effect For Synths
Another option is the Electro-Harmonix Small Clone which was first introduced in the 70s and is reasonably priced. The Analog Man Standard Chorus is a much more expensive handmade boutique version of the Small Clone. Analog Man also makes other highly regarded chorus pedals. TC Electronic makes seve...

The Boss CE-2W Waza Craft is a re-creation of the CE-2 with the addition of stereo outputs and also re-creates the legendary 1970s CE-1 with the addition of depth control. In addition to the Waza Craft option for much less money there are mod kits available for the CE-2B designed to enhance it's per...

Re: Novation K-Station: Tremolo ?
None of the original Sequential Circuits Prophets have VCA Modulation which is surprising since these were high-end Synths. I have had a Pro-One since it was new and didn't notice this until I got a Prophet 5 and wanted to do a repeat effect. The Pro-One does have a dedicated Repeat as does the ARP ...

Re: Novation K-Station: Tremolo ?
VCA Modulation can be a useful feature for creating various repeat effects including Tremolo. With a full-featured LFO you can use Sine/Triangle, Square, Sawtooth/Reverse-Sawtooth, or S&H for interesting cycling effects. To simulate Tremolo without VCA Modulation you might try Pulse-Width Modulation...

Re: Pratt & Read keyboards
I have had several instruments with Pratt-Read keyboards over the years. The only ones that the keystops (bushing holding bars) broke on are my two Gibson organs. The metal is a light gray color while later Pratt-Read keyframes are painted black. Possibly the metal used on the Gibson 60s Pratt-Read ...

Re: Pitch wheel adjust
I have tried several keyboards as MIDI controllers for the Model D with the Korg being the perfect match. Yes the Poly-800 front panel pitch bend range slider really does work with the Model D. I tried a Casio PX-5S 88-note velocity keyboard first. The pitch bend wheel bent the Model D a whole step ...

Re: Pitch wheel adjust
Some MIDI controller keyboards will allow you to adjust pitch bend range. I'm using an ancient Korg Poly-800 as a controller for my Model D. The pitch bend slider on the Poly-800 will adjust the bend range from zero to an octave up and down. A few pluses to using the Poly-800 as a controller are tha...

Re: Roland synths price point back in the day
In the 80s you could usually get a pretty good discount on higher-end musical gear if you paid cash. I went to Guitar Center to buy a Jupiter 6. I offered $2700 cash out the door for a Jupiter 6, Anvil ATA case, and Ultimate Support 3-tier A-frame stand and they took it.

Re: Synthesizers with awesome arpeggiators
The Jupiter 6 with Europa has extensive Arpeggiator capabilities. Beginning on page 30 there are twelve pages of the Europa manual dedicated to Arpeggiator operation.

Consider the Vox Pathfinder 15R. Loud enough for rehearsals and has Tremolo and Spring Reverb.
