Re: midi keyboard connection to synth

Do you get sound when playing the DX with its own keys? That would rule out a problem on the monitoring side of things. Do you have another MIDI cable to try? That would rule out a bad cable. I don't know the icon keyboard, but maybe there's some setting to check. Local MIDI, MIDI out, physical DIN ...

Re: Help with synthesizing a high pitched hissing sound

Non-appropriate switching PSU powering any audio device? Bonus points for using unbalanced cabling.

Re: Andromeda A6 as external filter

I'm not in front of my A6 right now, but I think you can do it with the "initial level" on the VCA envelope... Let us know.

Cheers :drinks:

Re: Can you hook up a modular systems to a D-50

If your question is whether the modules can be used to work together with the internal synth engine of the D-50, no , not at all. The D50 MIDI implementation is somewhat basic, but theoretically you could control a handful of parameters from a modular with a CV-to-MIDI converter  Cheers :d...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

I still need to catch up on this, my studio has been down for a few weeks but I’m starting to get it up again and I still want to fill up the old year. It’s cheating, of course, but who cares :D http://i67.tinypic.com/fatthz.jpg https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/nov-18-what-can-you-d-lf...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

I lost track of this a bit, so here’s some more beat mangling to make up for it. I accidentally bought a new Moogerfooger MF107 FreqBox recently because all the vendors are selling off their stock for cheap, so a TR909 beat is a natural first try on it 8-) http://i68.tinypic.com/1j2pfl.jpg https://s...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

The MS20 External Signal Processor lends itself to all sorts of crazy experimentation. Making the synth try to track drum machines is a classic. http://i65.tinypic.com/rr0cux.jpg https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/sep-18-808-plays-ms20 https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/sep-1...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

I recently installed a Hinton SwitchMix and it is a true game changer! My mind is blown beyond any expectation I had for it. Here is a first self-playing patch with a lot of random sources. http://i65.tinypic.com/bja6ti.jpg https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/aug-18-switchmix-random https...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

I’ve been experimenting with PH8 rhythms a lot lately, so here is an example. There are six different ping sources from a Cwejman QMMF4, RES4, and SPH2. http://i68.tinypic.com/j9n3mq.jpg https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/jul-18-multi-res-pings https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinio...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

Another patch with the Cwejman FSH1 frequency shifter. It is based on a sine source that is modulated by the same mix of different CV sources as the frequency shifter it is routed through. http://i63.tinypic.com/16bld9c.jpg https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/jun-18-fsh-fm-percussion http...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

I need to use my Cwejman FSH1 frequency shifter more often and I noticed that I never put it in a no input feedback loop. After patching it up, I decided that it would be fun to try and multitrack it a few times to layer and cut some fun parts. Here is the FSH1 Feedback Multitrack. http://i63.tinypi...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

I accidentally bought a cheap Alesis D4 recently, they were always intriguing due to the trigger inputs. Naturally, the first thing I was going to do was patch up some strange modulations from the modular and see how that goes. It reacts to the amplitude of triggers, so it does some strange things w...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2018

This month we have a patch using the Cwejman PH8 as a central modulator and the QMMF4 as an oscillator bank. It is also exploiting the QMMF4 gain-staging that can easily be overdriven with CV on the VCAs. http://i63.tinypic.com/348t75y.jpg https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/mar-18-quadra...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2017

I wanted to see what I can squeeze out of my old MS20 using some external modulation sources. The patch is pretty simple, but effective. http://i64.tinypic.com/2n07bk4.jpg https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/feb-18-ms20-modulation https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/feb-18-ms20...

Re: Choir Sound?

My favorite synth to build up your own choir sounds from scratch is the V-Synth. Sample yourself and some buddies and you will have a nice library soon :thumbright:
