Re: Elektron Octatrack!

I really want to know if it's possible to DJ with just the octatrack. I think someone on here asked that when it was introduced at NAMM this past year. It just had me thinking about the possibilities.... I love my MdUW so the Octatrack is the next big thing on my horizon for sure. Based on what the...

Re: Elektron Octatrack!

Can you loop small segments into a sample and going backward or forward without having to restart or retrigger the sample wave on the Elektron? :?: I mean you sample "hello" and then, you move a knob and the sample stays frozen on the "eeee" while holding the note and then slowly move the knob unti...

Re: Virus C - Got any tips?

modulate the arpeggiator pattern with an lfo to get more patterns the lfo flexibility is where its at with this synth, there are so many possibilities huuh, sounds good! is it possible on the older versions? (A,B, Rack)?????? I'd imagine you can do it on the older ones.. Just look for Arp pattern i...

Whilst I like arpegiators its all too easy to end up walking down the dodgy trance path. :D The l...

Re: Virus C - Got any tips?

If you've got the keyboard version - set amplitude release time to max. Then in the mod matrix set a negative value for release velocity to mod the amp release till you get a nice snappy cutoff when you release the keys quick, and a nice long floaty release time when you release the keys slow. Afte...

Re: Virus C - Got any tips?

use the analog 1 pole filter, crank resonance, crank osc volume Ahh nice, I like the analog filter but I do miss the nastyness of the rectifier followed by another filter when I use it. modulate delay time with an lfo on a random waveform set oscillator FM mode to IN L or IN R or IN L+R for an inst...

Virus C - Got any tips?

I got a Virus C quite recently and I am liking it a lot. I've noticed that the two filters in series with the distortion in between hides a lot of different tones. The effects are good for onboard ones, my Machinedrum sounded sweet getting mangled by them.

Any fellow users got any funky tips?

Re: How to NOT be overcompressed

For rough mixes/jams etc.. I just tend to tame the transients (with limiters, compressors and or maximisers), maybe gaining an extra 3-5 db of peak signal level. If it still doesn't sound loud enough then cut some subs and maybe some super highs, bring up the overall signal level and then do the fir...

Re: Name ONE favorite pedal (+more)

Loving my Jomox M Resonator. Cracking bit of kit... A little bit of verb after the filter I think gives a bit of something extra too. Mainly using it in mono cos it gets really confusing in stereo. Really love how u can make it a fizzy, gentle HP filter by subtracting one filter from the other, the ...

Re: would i be cheating?

as a rule, i delete all preset patterns/rhythms right away when i get a new piece of hardware. i will occasionally use preset samples/sounds/patches though if they are totally awesome or if i can't find them elsewhere. (having tons of software means i also have tons of preset sounds that mostly jus...

Re: Synths that drone

My fave drones thus far are from my G2 using relatively complex Fm and custom effex units. I would say modulars in general are probably the best bet. CS15 can drone away nicely but you'll need some post effex to keep it interesting.
