Re: Suggest a VST host, ala "Virtual Rack"?
I went to Bidule and haven't looked back. Ultra flexible and allows the routing of hardware effects and rack mounted analog synths to be combined with soft synths, which I don't use, but I do use soft samplers and can combine Gigastudio, VSL & Kontakt all under the same hood. Best thing about these ...

Re: Atmospheric Pads - Hardware
Solaris by John Bowen Synth Design. Waldorf Wave Oscillators combined with Vector Synthesis, and CEM Oscillators. Otherwise a Blofeld, MoPhat, and Virus combined could do the above. But Bowens CEM's are incredible for the basic FAT BASTARD polyphonic pads and a step above the rest for Analog performa...

Re: Taking the SE1X plunge!
I am happy to see so many guys who have good ears still. SE makes true analog synths, bottom line. That sound hasn't been emulated and I doubt it ever will. I prefer Solaris as a polyphonic synth because it's sound chartacter is very analog, and can do textures that analog synths cannot do such as W...

Re: software controller for hardware synths
Is it possible to have combinations ganged togther on a single fader or knob?
This would be sweet to control parameters on a pair of Waldorf Oscillators simultaneously.
Matching Cutoff's on dual filter's, etc.
A great idea even if the combos aren't possible.

Re: Looks like everyone has caught onto Ensoniq synths
Well I haven't had an Ensoniq for years but did convert the old Mod Wheel Guitar sample over the years to EMU, Roland, Giga and now STS. I can't believe anyone here hasn't mentioned the PAT capabilities they had on certain synths. I didn't own one but my friend use to get some great lead solo effect...

Re: What was the ultimate drum machine of the '80's?
My drummer played along to the Oberheim and even had the Prommer. He used an SP12 also. The reason why these were so poplular is the outputs on the machines were way hot, and the drums were very powerful for that time period. What I liked was the way they forced drummers to tune their drums bvetter ...

Re: Advice on NEW Analog lead synth
http://www.planetz.com/forums/download/file.php?id=4279 Here's another option that can be had for 600 USD on ebay. I use rackmounted analog synths and this was much cheaper than the Marathon Rackmounted MiniMoog for 5000 USD. It's a Studio Electronics cheapo SE-1. The Voyagers are excellent, but the...

Re: DSP Card question
Another option is a DSP card that already has awesome synths and zero latency. Scope DSP cards have many great synths and it doesn't end there. I really never understood why this company never advertised but once you use one of these the idea of buying a soundcard just to be able to have sound seems...

Re: Midi 8 in/8 out? Answer to midi glitches???
I can imagine all of the active sensing the Voyager is sending. If you can filter that out in software great. The problem w/ software panic is that it still is heard as the filter cleans out the pipes. I also use analog synths in a hybrid/DSP based rig and eventually solved all MIDI issues by riddin...

Re: John Bowen Solaris Synthesizer, heard of it?
i'm excited to hear what the solaris can bring to the table with those emulations in terms of new sounds, stuff that the old synths couldnt come up with Exactly. I already have real analogs in my rig in the form of 3 and 4U. My MC3000 controls those along w/ Giga/Kontackt and Scope Mixer w/ hardwar...

Re: John Bowen Solaris Synthesizer, heard of it?
I was able to quit using my Oberheims live thanks to Scope DSP cards and Solaris soft. However I have used analog all of my life and couldn't see being w/o a rackmounted updated analog as the Monophonic chores are important to me. Solaris version 5.0 is now available in Scope and has added features ...

Re: Emu Emulator II 5.25/3.25 Drives & Floppies.
Yes it was Northstar. I swapped w/ an FM radio jock from the Bay who steered me to NS. If you ever heard Disrted Reality I & II it is from that vein, but this sound has no equal and I have never figured out what it was yet, but it starts off with a slow envelope and is reverse looped. Truly beautifu...

Re: Emu Emulator II 5.25/3.25 Drives & Floppies.
You must score the FDD called Fairlight Moods. It is still an incredible sound. To get ones attention back then to hear something titles like Synclavier and Fairlight were often used. This was a reversed Layer of synths which is still classic sound IMO. I have been out of the scene for years since S...

Re: Other 8-bit samplers?
You will like the Mirage, it's a classic. Make sure the SG Gibson Distorted Guitar FDD comes w/ it. MWhl feedback is perfectly crossfaded. I converted it to EOS,Oberheim DPX and Gigastudio. I still use it in GVI w/ the Oberheim Echoplex in reverse live. I have many libraries of Guitar samples, but E...
