Design Labs Prologue

I've had this MIDI>CV converter for years and not had any major problems. Have always had a couple of problems though, I wonder if anyone here is an expert on it: 1. "channel 5" aka the MIDI filter doesn't seem to work. the MIDI thru socket continues to echo all MIDI channels. the SYNC out doesn't o...

Prophet 600 ROM upgrade

Just a quick question about this before I order the OS 6.0.08 from Vintageplanet..... is this upgrade as simple as just removing a chip from a socket and replacing it with the new one? or is there lots of disassembling / soldering etc? I know replacing the CEMs is really easy on this synth, hoping t...

Re: MS10 pink noise

That's interesting. It works really well as a modulation source. I never thought of filtering something that I was going to use a modulation source. I only ever thought about filtering audio. * brain opens to next level * I'll try it on the modular and see if i get a similar result..... thanks again.

MS10 pink noise

Please move if this is in the wrong place. I've got an MS10 and wouldn't mind selling it to make a bit of space but there's one thing on it I love: the pink noise. Really good for claps and stuff. I can't figure out what's going on with it, I can clearly hear it's different to the white noise but I ...

Re: Eurorack rack-mountable cases

Only problem with using Doepfer stuff in AS cases is that the holes are drilled in a different place so you end up with a tiny gap, or else you have to cut the rails in the case to make it all fit together. Not major though. As far as I remember, you need to put a half twist in the power cables or s...

Re: MKS-80... love hate

Desolationblvd's post about cutoff levels was helpful. I think a big part of it is about "sweet spots" - things like the Roland SH range or a Pro 1 are designed so that the range of the knobs/sliders makes it easy to get nice sounds all the time. On the MKS you need to be quite careful, there's a lo...

Re: Eurorack rack-mountable cases

I highly recommend Doepfer for control stuff - sequential switch, quantiser etc all work with no problems and are cheap.

Re: Eurorack rack-mountable cases

Thanks, guess I'll just go for the Doepfer one.
The Doepfer website is so 1995..... hard to find stuff on there :)

Re: MKS-80... love hate

For what it's worth, I have the same love/hate relationship with the MKS80. It's my only fully analogue poly. I love the fact that it's velocity sensitive in such a controllable way, and like all Roland stuff it just works with no confusion. Oscs sound lovely. But the filter is weak-sounding in my o...

Eurorack rack-mountable cases

I've got a couple of the 6U Analogue Systems ones that are full, I need another one for Doepfer stuff. I can't see a Doepfer-made 6U case that has rack ears..... can anyone recommend a decent 6U case that is rackable, with Doepfer-type power. I'm in the UK so things made in UK/Europe are going to be...

TR808 clap adjustment

I've searched around but can't quite get a clear understanding: How do the trimmers TM3 and TM4 in the 808 affect the clap? My clap is very long / reverby. Some places seem to say I should adjust TM4, others TM3. I can't find anything clear in the service notes. Anyone got the definitive answer? tha...

Re: Pro One pots

Thanks folks.
I'll try some cleaning first then I'll go to synthparts!

Some of the pots are crackly (osc & noise levels, cutoff) and the envelope ones behave erratically as if there are some "dead spots" in the pots.
