Re: The Complete DX7 by Howard Massey

I've not come across the soundsheets for The Complete DX7II, but here are the soundsheets for the first book:

Re: The Complete DX7 by Howard Massey

I know this is probably a long shot, but I just bought a used DX7 II and found the Massey book online... And I'm hoping Big Gnome or someone still lurking might have the MP3 sound Sheet files mentioned in this thread (the rapid share link is dead now). Thanks in advance!! I found the original zip f...

Re: Yamaha Tx16w Typhoon Download

Thankfully, it's very much possible. The following is what I do in Windows XP to format a 1.4MB HD floppy disk with a 720k FAT partition: 1) Grab a 1.4MB HD floppy disk 2) Put a piece of tape over the hole opposite of the write protection toggle 3) Place the floppy in the PC 4) Open up a command pro...

Re: Yamaha Tx16w Typhoon Download

Hey, congrats on getting the TX16W. The Typhoon OS really turns these into great samplers. I'm surprised to find that the download links at NuEdge are no longer available. Seems it slipped under Magnus' radar? Either way, though, I tracked down a page that is still hosting each of the PC and Mac flo...

Re: TX802 screen issue?

Not sure if this will be of any help since I don't have a TX802, but I do have both a TX16W and a QX3 that were developed at virtually the same time as the TX802 and seemingly have the same 40x2 LCD screen. On the TX16W (also without contrast adjustment), the LCD appears the same as what is depicted...

Re: Roland Director-s?

There's a couple of nice pdf manuals of Director-S at Roland's site, but they're a bit buried away. Here's a direct link to the S-550/S-330 version:

I was curious about this as well when I read the interview. A google search led me to believe that it's likely lisinopril, an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor.

Re: The Complete DX7 by Howard Massey

Thank you so much Sir, I owe you big time! :geek: (<- yes, that's me, haha) Hopefully in time I'll set up a separate section on my blog dedicated exclusively to DX7 (both mk1 and 2) with as much relevant information as possible and (with your permission) I'll try to get a permanent server space som...

Re: alesis ion's flexible oscillators

Though its interface isn't nearly as immediate as the Ion, the Fusion can reach similar territory with its VA engine and sometimes venture a bit further out. The FM routing is more flexible in the Fusion, but only, uhh, 'regular' FM is offered, not both linear and exponential as with the Ion. And sy...

Re: More S-550 fun- How Slow to load?

Errgh, that's very slow! It should be closer to about a minute for a 720k disk that's filled up. Is this the case with all disks that you've tried or have you only had the chance to try the one? Does the counter go through its countdown more than once? And does booting up your S-550 take this long a...

Re: sample rates in low bit samplers

It was never originally downloadable. I think I might have it, but it's on a floppy with the sampler at a friend's studio so the chances of going to the trouble of copying the floppy etc. are slim, because it's copy protected and needs a DOS utility to make copies. PITA. Ahh, I didn't realize that ...

Re: sample rates in low bit samplers

Some resampling algorithms will implement a filter, some won't. For example, when Typhoon was upgraded to the 2000 version, they put in a filter for the resampling so it sounded cleaner. I stopped using that feature :) Does anyone know if the earlier 1.0 version of Typhoon is available to download ...

Re: S-330 sloppy timing via MIDI

Don't take it as fact though. Here is a demo of the 550 sequenced via MIDI from FL studio and the timing is fine! I don't know what was causing the problems I had, maybe it was some setting in the MPC. I must check it again. I'm a bit tardy with this reply, but were you able to figure out if it was...
