Re: DSI announces Prophet 12!
One thing i'm a little confused by is Carson Day in two seperate video's i have watched makes it a point to say that the sub osc is for osc 1 (30 secs in the video linked here), yet Dave says its 5 osc (including sub osc) per voice for a stacked unison of 60 osc's. I think he means there are four r...

Re: DSI announces Prophet 12!
This looks really nice. Can't quite tell from the photos but it appears they've even done away with those Lexan overlays from their other instruments. Can't wait to hear it in person. Very excited about the inclusion of a resonant, analog HPF. And four oscillators plus sub?! That's approaching Solar...

Re: New Moog
Totally agree about the tiny keyboard. When the panel surrounding the Pitch and Mod wheels is nearly as wide as the keyboard, what the h**l is the point? This thing would be so much more playable and aesthetically pleasing with even another half octave, like the Prodigy. Obviously you can control it...

Re: Taking the SE1X plunge!
I've owned the ATC-X (midiminiafied at the factory) for a few years now. Love, love, love it. Great sounding synth, and I would definitely purchase a knobby keyboard version, if one were to be released. Kinda curious, since a few of you here have them, which filters are your favorite? I really like ...

Re: Just saw Crystal Method live
Saw them about ten years ago in Toronto. Definitely some miming happening, but some actual performing as well. They dragged out the Jupiter 6 and had a go on it for one track. Sounded NICE. I have respect for anyone who can do electronic music live in a convincing manner. After giving it a go myself...

Prophet 08 PE (Pot Edition)
Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere. This was definitely the first I had seen/read about it: http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2009/05/26/new-prophet-08-now-with-knobs-on/ Endless rotaries never bothered me too much, but I did find them pretty wobbly, which turned me off when I tried it in...

Re: Poly Evolver filter sweep... unconvinced
I've owned an evolver (twice) for the past five years or so. It was my first analogue, and after I got over how much better it sounded than the VA stuff I had been using, I immediately began to wish its filter was thicker, and that it's DCOs sounded fuller. Eventually I ditched it, and scored an SE ...

Re: Macbeth X Factor
When this synth was first announced, I was really excited about it. I have no first hand experience with a MacBeth instrument, but his reputation precedes him; and there's just something about a 3.5 octave keyboard that I find really appealing. Each new piece of info about the X-Factor's specs only ...

The knobs on the Prophet 08 feel really, REALLY weak to me. That synth would be ten times more attractive to me if the encoders were reasonably firm. I don't understand why so many manufacturers seem to be forgetting how great it feels to adjust a solid control, whether it be a knob or a slider. The...

The Rozzbox has caught my eye as well. The thing I like about it is that, from the examples I've heard on the L.L. Electronics site, it doesn't seem to be giving up any of the density/phatness you get in the modern analogue monosynths (LP, Evolver, SE1) despite being a five voice poly. The size of t...

Couple Sherman Filterbank 2 Qs
I've decided to pick up a Prophet 08m for gigging. Judging by the hour or so I spent demoing the keyboard version, and my extensive experience with the evolver, the prophet should be able to cover most of the synth sounds I need. Where it's lacking (for me) is in the filter department. I love the SE...
