Re: Oberheim OB-6 Dave Smith

I have to respectfully disagree, too. I play an OB-Xa on a regular basis and the OB-6 has that Oberheim vibe in spades minus the back-breaking weight. To my ears, Dave and Tom really nailed the sonic characteristics of the Obie filters and oscillators. Bravo!

Camel Audio Alchemy vs. Kawai K5000R

Which additive synth sounds better for ambient-style music? Can the soft synth Alchemy do everything that the hardware K5000 can?

Re: Andromeda vs. Oberheim OB-Xa

Thanks for your response. "Refurbished" means new keyboard bushings and full checking/servicing by a former Oberheim technician. I've seen the OB-Xa for $2500 without new keyboard bushings and the Encore retrofit. Assuming that this is the sound I'm looking for, I guess the question is whether those...

Andromeda vs. Oberheim OB-Xa

If you had to choose between a brand new Andromeda for $2999 and a recently refurbished Oberheim OB-Xa with Encore midi retrofit and DSX sequencer for $3,500, which would you choose? I'm aware that the Andromeda is a more versatile polysynth that out-specs the Oberheim in a number of respects and th...

Re: In Praise of Arturia Origin

IMHO it's the best modern hardware polysynth I've used since the Andromeda--it sounds that good (way beyond Arturia's earlier software emulations). The Origin is finally starting to make its way into stores. Rather than take my word for it, you should check one out yourself. Street price is $2399--t...

Is the filter delay a patch that you created for the Orville, or is it one of the preprogrammed presets that comes with it? Sounds fantastic!

Thanks for sharing these beautiful examples of the A6 +Orville! They're really inspiring. Have you posted your BerlinPad preset to any of the A6 patch libraries?

Cheers!
