I can't say your opinion's wrong, but I really do need to make sure you've heard this though:

This is a SPECTACULAR sounding synth, as far as I'm concerned!

Sealed's Deep Synthesis != Deepsonic.ch, unfortunately.

Re: In-synth stereo-ification techniques?

Stab, thanks for the great ideas about using the principles of stereo localization! Did he? I didn't see any mention of: Difference in level. Difference in arrival times. DIfference in timbre. Just sayin'. Fine, he didn't explicitly mention all of those, but I extrapolated out to take it as a sugge...

Re: In-synth stereo-ification techniques?

Stab, thanks for the great ideas about using the principles of stereo localization! This is the kind of clever stuff I'm talking about. I'm definitely going to see how much of these principles I can implement convincingly on my Ion and report back!

Re: In-synth stereo-ification techniques?

Limited polyphony causing random assignment to one of two outputs, like the Crumar Bit One does. Or the Oberheim way- open it up and set the pan position for each voice. I guess you could easily emulate those on the Ion? Bizzarely, you can't do this directly on the Ion as there is no mod source for...

In-synth stereo-ification techniques?

Hey gang, I thought it would be interesting to have a discussion about techniques to make use of the stereo field in-synth. (Downstream stereo effects are pretty obvious and not really what I want to get into) I have an Ion and its sophisticated modulation capabilities could allow for many creative ...

Re: Alpha Juno not sending Note Off info?

Yeah, technically that's correct. The Alpha Juno sends a Note On message with Velocity = 0, as opposed to the actual Note Off message. This is a perfectly valid way of representing a Note Off command (per the MIDI spec); you can use either, and every MIDI device should be designed to respond correct...

Re: TC Electronic M-One

The M-One's nice, definitely clean, but I can't honestly comment on its suitability for long decays for trance tracks. I have a hunch you'll need the M-One XL for its XL algorithms for the really long decays as opposed to running a high decay time on just a large room...

Nope, that would be the "SQ-1 Plus 32-voice". The standard Plus has only 21 voices.

Super cheap SH-101 in Regina, SK, if that is indeed his asking price - which it might not be once he gets a flood of interest:

Re: Roland HS-60 VS. Korg DW-8000

$275 is a dang good deal for an HS-60. Juno 106/HS-60 prices have just been constantly going higher and higher and it's getting pretty hard to find them for less than $450 now. I'd say don't hesitate to go for that one. However, I don't have any DW-8000 experience (couldn't get a free broken one wor...
