Re: Oberheim DX and SC Drumtraks = virtually the same?
I think the DX is much better, sounds great and the swing on it is lovely. The swing on the drumtraks on the other hand, is fairly useless.

Korg 800DV vs Octave Cat SRM
I'm thinking about buying a fun vintage synth and its come down to the 800DV and Octave Cat SRM. I'm in to more weird but musical/useful sounds, and I think they both can deliver. I'm leaning more towards the 800dv at this stage but am curious as to what some other people think. Here's my thoughts o...

Re: Evolver vs BSII
The Evolver all the way. With what you already have, a bass station seems absolutely redundant. I love the Evolver, and though it sounds great for analogue stuff I have hardly programmed any typically analogue sounds with it, as it feels it is severely under utilizing it. Even after a few years I'm ...

Re: Moog model D reissue
Spent 7 minutes with this synth yesterday, very disappointing experience. Sounds thin and plastic, like soft synth. Probably because it is PCB with modern made in China components and not handwired point to point circuitry. It lacked presence and felt 2D, not 3D like real woman with the massive buz...

Re: How many of you have organs in your set-up?
I have an old 'National' branded combo organ at home which is very similar to an Acetone Top-5. also an '80's Korg CX-3, and red Farfisa Compact for two different bands. I wonder if the National was a Matsushita made or distributed product. National was the brand name Matsushita used outside of Nor...

Re: Korg Minilogue Polyphonic Analog Synth
I've ordered one, and am located in Australia - ordered early Feb, still waiting ... been told end of march now. Can't wait to get it ... I've been told that it can resemble the RSF Kobol, with the similar wave shaping and filter. I ordered one yesterday from storedj and they said mid next week, Ho...

I was initially really excited about the Minilogue, and then decided against it. I finally got to try one yesterday and it's actually really cool for the price. I think i'm going to grab one.

Re: Synthesizers and their (true) sound
But what if it's the reverb or some other "non-synth-specific" element that's making what you hear particularly good? Exhibit A: https://jimatwood.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/roland-juno-6.jpg Remove the chorus and bass boost baked into the HPF and there's not much to get excited about ;) I hardly ...

Get a behringer cc-300, it will probably be all you need, and likely for less than $50
