Re: Tips for making original and creative music with synths

for quite sometime i just made music on an xpander trying to create original evolving sounds that are musically interesting which i did achieve to some degree. when other muso friends came around i would play them my latest song mostly blank stares, listening to patches on a synth was/is not music t...

Re: Yamaha - enemies of synthsis!

yep fs1r ........ what a great synth in an insane box....... would take years to be able to move around its parameters with ease and then it would never be anything but a chore!!! a key version with a decent interface/screen would have been a killer, no doubt i was able to load my own samples into m...

Re: rank your synths by interface/programming ease

the Machine Drum and Mono Machine for me easily have the best overall interface ease of use vs complexity battle they just allow you to play/work/compose/design with so little impediment i get bored so easily with annoying, hard to get around, look in the manual again gear (i think this is one of th...

Re: Drum Machine - Korg S3 or Yamaha RY30?

the ry30 is one of the best of those types of dms about

has nearly a full synth engine and a wheel to control and record parameter changes

plenty of card for extra sounds

the korg can sound great but for me a massive pain in the a*s to use, really hard to get around and use.

the ry all the way imo

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Well the thing about these and the original 4-voices is that if you wanted all four voices to sound similar you had to set each up that way (you could see how changing patches could quickly become a pain since you have to do it 4 times, every time). Also, I think the multivoices had digital keyboar...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

so far "it should look better than the orig" and now using caps to describe it as "very simple" yeah we "diehards" will buy it regardless of its great sound, great looks, great potential. tell ya what...you dont like it?..its a $100 to much for you?...not enough bells an whistles?.....dont buy it.....

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

...and here I didn't think I needed another synth... I hear that brother. If they were for sale today, I'd plunk down a grand for one. No ifs, ands, or buts. ditto... I did - ever so momentarily - have the thought, "wouldn't it just be great if he added ________" and then caught myself. What? Patch...
