Re: mc-505 vs mc-307 vs rm1x

well my plan is definitely for the RM1x now.

but! even though it's in a different class i'd say...
i'm contemplating the MC-909 as it's got a little bit of everything. but hmm.

can anyone strongly urge for or against an mc-909?

Re: mc-505 vs mc-307 vs rm1x

the fizmo! i've heard wonderful things, but otherwise don't know much about it. looks to be a bit high/out of my usual price range. i don't know what to call music i make... but i do make a variety of stuff (which you can hear on the m'space, linked below), but yeah... i tend to want it 120bpm and b...

Re: it has begun... (customizing my alesis ion)

Where did you buy your synth knobs? on ebay of course! you just have to shop around and get the right measurements, which can be tough, but the process at least provides you with a reason to contact the seller and see how quickly/properly they respond. Good luck with the paintjob thanks!! Looks lik...

Re: it has begun... (customizing my alesis ion)

did you strip all the original color off, then primed it before you painted it? i didn't do anything. i bought goo-gone which i was told would take off the decals, but after a few attempts, no luck at all. so i just went on ahead. i did three light coats, and so far the "alesis/ion" part is the onl...

Re: mc-505 vs mc-307 vs rm1x

well! i'm not too sure i'll mind the "outdated sound" as i'm not going to be using it for dance music really. so hopefully the machine can bend to meet my needs at a lower bpm.

Re: it has begun... (customizing my alesis ion)

Is that orange or red? Or primer? it's krylon "pumpkin orange" which i have yet to decide if i'm going to keep the top coat glossy, hmm. and yes. it was a quick cell phone picture, i'll take proper dslr wide-angle shots once she's all together! on a side note... i wonder what the microwave XTK look...

Re: it has begun... (customizing my alesis ion)

...hmm... and the knob labels ??? Did you paint over them too? which reminds me. i'm definitely not looking forward to individually applying each printed waterslide decal, especially since i've yet to find a good font to use! yes. i am going to be redo-ing all of them with clear laserjet water slid...

Re: it has begun... (customizing my alesis ion)

I just got a MS2000R and it is a little damaged from an apparent drop by the previous owner. I am thinking it might be cool to re-paint it something awesome. yes! and it'd be easier with the ms2000r because the rack unit doesn't have the awesome diagram on the top panel... which i would never want ...

Re: a collection of my ambient/drone works

yes just the dw-8000 for synthesizer sounds. and some non musical outdoor chimes. and. actually the sound of an apartment building burning down in the winter of 2006. i stood maybe 500 feet away with an 80s portable teac tape recorder. THOUGH most of the crackling noise you hear is actually ice bein...

Re: dead alesis ion main output pre-amp HELP!

Re: mc-505 vs mc-307 vs rm1x

thanks for the responses! looks like the mc-505 is coming out on top so far... i totally forgot about the electribes though. i had the er-1 for awhile and really disliked it's sound. but the EMX-1 seems a lot more advanced in many ways... how does the EMX-1 compare to the MC-505?*** edit: holy h**l....

mc-505 vs mc-307 vs rm1x

(this hasn't been done already has it??)

so i've watched all the videos i can find, and compared the specs...
they each seem well suited for my needs...

but what do you guys think?

are there any similar units i'm forgetting in this (obviously used) price range?
