the ensoniq dp/2 and dp/4 have an excellent vocoder algorithm...its purely digital so its nice and clean...im not gonna say its like the rolands or korgs...but its a good vocoder..and much like the warp factory its very intelligible(if u dial it in that way) if u cant afford 600 for the roland a dp/...

...im one of those ppl that had a machine drum, played w/ it for a few months, sampled it, and re-sold it. um, I am confused...due to the nature of the MD being a powerful sequencer / and a synth that lets you dial in such a wide range of percussive, I don't know how you could effectively sample it...

get an emulator....destroy some breakbeats w/ gain...layer them behind your machine drum doing tr type sounds...works awesome for trance/acid/acid breaks/tech/dnb :D altho i think the 909/emulator combo is better....the machinedrum is a bad mamba jamba no doubt...but it just doesnt have thunder of s...

hmmm...eos tips....i have a few....some maybe useful to your trance production, some not(i do tech/dnb/hiphop/experimental weirdness) as far as sample edit goes.... 1. clip the s**t out of all your samples...10-20db over 0 on all your drums will give them that really heavy dnb sound(also prime for h...

question for the sy/tg77 crowd...can u load dx patches into it? i had one for about 3 months on loan, but i never thought to try it...i guess in theory it could work cuz they have similar fm structures...but like i said, never thought of it when i had the beast in front me. No you cannot. There is ...

Question for everyone: Would it be overkill for someone already in posession of a Korg 05rw module to get a TG-77? Do you think the two have anything in common? Are they just two different 32-voice-polyphonic digial animals? tottally different beasts....while the sy/tg77 will do pcm sounds like the...

bought supermel74's xl7...was prompt in answering questions and the package was well packed in a sturdy box with newspaper and bubble wrap inside...would deal with supermel74 again...however next time i would ask to upgrade to at least priority mail, cuz parcel post took forever to get here.

I read that the ESI series has some impossible to decrypt file standard.. (or maybe it was the A series, nah it was the ESI) so transfer back+forth is nearly impossible or something? :? not at all, you can transfer back and forth to esi/eos with soundforge, recycle, zero-x beat creator, chicken sys...

the akai seem a good choice, partly because of the wav format as native. how about the esi-4000? is there a way to convert wav to it's format? i'll probably use the cf card adapter with it, if i get my hands on one. I read that the ESI series has some impossible to decrypt file standard.. (or maybe...

forget the esi, and try to get an eos series like an e4,e6400, e5000....perferably an ultra, altho alot of ppl(myself included)prefer the sound of the classics...but the ultras do have a more mature os and expanded features....more lfo shapes and beat munging being the 2 biggest expanded features......

which is the better choice for an inexpensive 12bit job? please dont say s900/950...had one and didnt like it...honestly id like a prophet2002 or asr-10 to complement my e64 and mpc, but both of those boxes seem to be going for silly money right now for whatever reason(im a register monkey at a gas ...

i've just tried hooking the midi in from my roland sp404 to my 2000xl and no real dramas other than the way the mpc pads work with notes (i think this is the issue, I'm no expert) but the mpc's 16 pads don't necessarily relate to the same position of the 8-12 pads on the sp samplers. for example i ...

i never understood why the 626 is such a red-headed stepchild.....id get one before people start realising how great they truly are again and the price gets to the ridiculous levels the 707 and 606 are at now. Well, with drum machines, it tends to come down to the sound set... since the 626 doesn't...
